Never before had I been as pessimistic about seeing a flick, yet so gloriously surprised while watching it as I was with Scott Pilgrim.

I'm a huge fucking Arab on Radar fan. I mean, they may even be the most listened to thing in my record collection. So this film is one of the most watched in my DVD collection. Even if you haven't heard any AoR, this is a great place to start. There is no gig like an Arab on Radar gig. Period. The live footage/insanity is fantastic, and the glimpses into AoR's off-stage life make me prefer putting this on before one of their records.

If you don't own it, and enjoy AoR, or any related projects, please, do yourself a favor and check it out. It's 3.99 on the threeoneg website currently with free fucking shipping.

I saw them live once. Mr Potty Mouth scared me.

Yeah, dude. Arab on Radar live is a religious experience. OOPS tour? That was the best concert of my life.

House is a wild movie. A living cartoon that only the Japanese could make. If this were any other country you'd chalk it up to everyone involved in the film being on acid, and what the hell is up with that goddamn cat?

I know everyone loves Jon Moritsugu, right? (He directed cult classics Terminal USA, Fame Whore, Mod Fuck Explosion, and Scumrock) Well, these are his two most obscure films, which up until recently had been rather hard to come by... but thank god I did because I feel completely inspired like I haven't been in a long long time. Basically, the best way to describe Moritsugu is ... kinda like the films of Gregg Araki (Totally Fucked Up, Nowhere, Living End, Splendor, Mysterious Skin, and some other absolute classics of independant filmmaking), with more of a "no wave" bent (Jon made some films as part of the no wave film movement.., and was much more talented than Richard Kern and Nick Zedd, though I'm not sure if he was as talented as Amos Poe (the Godard-referencing genius who made Unmade Beds -- the 1976 one -- which I got on a DVD which hilariously, proudly proclaimed "FEATURING A DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY!" and the film had no director's commentary! The film also has Debby Harry, before she was popular, in a role she probably forgot.. I highly reccomend no wave classic Unmade Beds - the 1976 one!! -- as the entire film is a really awesome "No wave" film that references the French new wave as if the no wave movement was the NEW new wave).

BTW, Thurston's on the Hippy Porn soundtrack.

Yesterday watched "Red Rock West', I love that movie. In my top 3 for Nic Cage performances. And then "Valhalla Rising", a total piece of shit.

Red Rock West? It rules.

Funky Forest: The First Contact

10/10

I'm at a loss for words. My brain can't even begin to process what it just witnessed. Imagine a film, if you will, that is part Godard, part Jodorowsky, part Cronenberg, part Monty Python, part WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK, part Hennenlotter... and is presented in the fashion of a Japanese television broadcast... sorta. That's the best that I've got at explaining this masterpiece. See it ASAP, it will fuck your mind, your mind will fuck itself, then you'll fuck your mind while watching live video stream of Funky Forest: The First Contact fucking your mind, as well as your mind fucking itself.

It was me. (the user) who recommended this to me. I can't even begin to show enough gratitude for your suggestion, dude.

Thanks me.

After seeing this, and The Taste of Tea, I'm pretty sure that Katsuhito Ishii is my new god. I can't wait to watch Party 7, and Shark Skin Man & Peach Hip Girl!

Oh yeah, and it was nice seeing so many of the cast members from TToT in this one.

What is the name of the Kitano film he mentions in this interview? I cna't make it out, and am unfamiliar with Kitano's work aside form Hana-Bi.
