This thread is full of entertaining highlights.
'Sugar come by, an get me high.' 'Can I call Mari Juana, If ya wanna party, Well shit, I'm gonna, as soon as she comes a-whaand.' I love the government and their actions. BLESSED BE THE MEEK |

Actaually there are other chemicals in alcoholic drinks that intoxicate you, apart from ethanol, such as methanol. The darker the drink the more of these other drugs there are. So something like vodka is going to have hardly any or nothing of these other drugs, whereas guinness will fuck you up. It's why different drinks get you drunk in different ways and also why the hair of the dog hangover cure works. Methanol breaks down in the body into formaldehyde, which is a big cause of hangover, but ethanol slows the breaking down of the methanol and so alleviates the hangover. Also Everyone should look at this: http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2...rugsandalcohol |

I forgot to say :
The "alcohol is as dangerous as shit but it's allowed, so why not the same for shit ?" argument is stupid. You could allow all the drugs if you want. And guns for teenagers. No problem. that'd be great. |
Banning anything that encourages people to put Cypress Hill posters on their walls and read Terry Pratchet novels HAS to be a good thing in my book.

And some people still claim that it doesn't cause schizophrenia. |

No I say ban alcohol, legalise other stuff. |
Well, why do think it would be better to legalize it ? Less traffic ? Less death ? Less exploitation ? No....If it's just to enable people to have a new way to kill themselves, it's useless.

yes, yes--- champagne has aldehydes that get you fucked up good. i was merely making a point about isolating a component in a chemical mishmash. but everyone should know their booze. because that's how you make great cocktails-- ha! |

There would be less traffic and less death as a result of the declining traffic. If weed were more socially acceptable, more people would grow their own. Sure you'd still have the druglord-kingpins of fiction growling 'sell morre drruggsss I need morre money ahhhh.' (these druglords are reptiles so they hiss a lot) but there would be less people willing to get ripped off to get high. But yeh...Amsterdam is totally wrecked; all teenagers are schizophrenic, most of the denizens are unemployed, people are shot and left to bleed in the street till the wolves gettem, effectively all order has collapsed because people have slightly more liberty than us, and you can't get a cold beer anywhere :( |

I don't understand people who know tobacco, alcohols... can cause death would like to have an other way to kill themselves... Everybody can have his own way to die, no problem. But when you're talking about laws, it concerns people lives. Laws are made to help people to improve their life (normally). No ? |
Quote:
Yeah laws are supposed to keep the country running and prevent social breakdown but legalizing weed would not cause loads of people to die. Are you just trollin? I think I detect some trollin... Carry on. |
weed cant kill you so its not preventing death. and was that a joke about amsterdam? cause it is not like that at all.
so im guessing it was a joke |
you know my username, Mr eatmychild....
But about cannabis, I'm serious, 'cause I saw its negative effects on my brother. when he was somking pot, he was a vegetable. He 's better now, he stoped smoking definitively. I don't care if you smoke weed at home, it's your life. I'm not going to test you. But I wonder what you want. If you legalize it, younger people will have an easier access to that shit. Some of them already have this access, could you gess what they become? Zombies... I frequent them everyday. It's a shame, they don't have any hope, any life. I don't say that to dramatize the topic, it's just what I see everyday, and it's my point of view. I just think people are not ready for this legalisation, they're not matured. |

I see what you're saying, and my response is a cop-out, but.... we can't predict the future. The impact of drugs on popular culture in the 60s was pretty huge. Obviously the impact of legalizing an already popular drug wouldn't be the same, but a change in legality ought to entail a change in attitudes towards pot and its place in culture. Perhaps there'd be a few years of turbulence as people got used to the legality, perhaps smokers would just keep smoking and non-smokers would try it if they wanted to. I have to point to Amsterdam again (and anywhere else it's legal) and ask where all the young zombies are. Quote:
