Yeah, me too.
All these new new New-Wave bands are really boring.
Always the same sounds, rythms, bass lines, way of singing...

ZEROpumpkins 05.21.2008 04:49 AM

I totally agree man, it's like:"
"Ooh, look at us we're so quirky and cool cuz we have old sounding keyboards"
Whoever brings back the 80's needs to be sodomised with a sharp, sharp pole.

Cantankerous 05.21.2008 04:50 AM

dead can dance are pretty disappointing.

atsonicpark 05.21.2008 07:20 AM

I think the Cure were pretty disappointing to me.

Because a lot of people with great tastes like them, but the only album I can slightly get into is Boys Don't Cry (or whatever it's called in England), because it has some Wire and PiL references on it. They have a few stray amazing songs ("Just Like Heaven" and "Love Song" -- while overplayed -- are undeniably classic) but their albums bore me to tears, especially Pornography. I don't think they're awful, I just was kinda disappointed.

Death & the Maiden 05.21.2008 07:23 AM

MC5. I have Kick Out The Jams, I love the title track, but the rest bores me. I only listened to it a few times, and that was a while ago, so I need to give it another listen.

Death & the Maiden 05.21.2008 07:29 AM

The Cure was disappointing when I first heard them. I was told they were like The Smiths, so I should definitely like them. They didn't sound like The Smiths, so I was disappointed. Then one day I bought Three Imaginery Boys, Seventeen Seconds and Pornography because they were very cheap, I was no longer disappointed after hearing those.

I'd go along with this. I was so disappointed when I first heard MC5.

Same goes for New York Dolls.

Richard Hell & The Voidoids - Blank Generation

noodly stupid rock for a noodly stupid time.

krastian 05.21.2008 12:08 PM

The first band that comes to mind is Battles......I couldn't even get through the third song.

copper 05.21.2008 01:14 PM

whatever your new band is.

batreleaser 05.21.2008 03:54 PM

yea, ive always hated the cure.

second mc5, one brilliant, radical, genre defining record of which us probably the most influential live record ever, and then 3 shit ablums of which got more boring with every ablum.

can anyone think of dissapointing jazz artists? its hard to say, because the good ones are always sooo fucking good.

im gonna hold my breath and say ornette coleman. free jazz and the shape of jazz to come are twop of my favorite records ever, but i really dont think "free jazz" really fits his style. he definitley isnt as wild as the other free jazz legends like sun ra, cecil taylor, albert ayler, and others. i think hes genius and amazing, but no more "free" or "avant" then john coltrane.

gualbert 05.21.2008 04:13 PM

Killing Joke. ( 1st lp )
Where does their great reputation comes from?

you know the ORIGINATOR will never be as "wikld" and "out there" as his PROGENITORS, right?

mnusic has to belistened to in context man! compare Coleman's work with the hard bop mainstays and cool jazz of the time, and it is FREE and it is MINDBLOWING

batreleaser 05.21.2008 04:54 PM

he is "arguably" the original free jazz artist, and yes i love him. but he is always described as being so fucking insane, and to me he is just not so.

Rob Instigator 05.21.2008 04:57 PM

because you have heard the "insane" stuff that has come as a result of HIS insane stuff. don't you see?
context man. context.

er...

batreleaser 05.21.2008 05:14 PM

yeah i get you, context, doesnt change the fact that the way he is described in bios and shit greatly exagerates his style. just my opinion.

HECKLER SPRAY 05.21.2008 07:19 PM

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Rather Ripped yet....

pbradley 05.21.2008 08:14 PM

I like Rather Ripped.

batreleaser 05.21.2008 09:08 PM
