well, she has to dip her toe in the water first, innit? i mean, she'll co-write symphony n° 14 with glenn branca (for will serve him as a return to form) eventually but first she'll have to have a few of your typical experimental phases that happen. cd-r of her backed by sbhotm, a collaboration with merzbow, a jam with lee ranaldo, a cd-r on chocolate monk, a slot on atp and no fun fest each, an improv gig (probably with john zorn) at the stone released for posteriority on tzadik, etc. |

tell that to all the thirteen year olds who slept outside the apple store in new york. they have no precedent of a rock band in their lives. if you tell them "but what about sonic youth or nirvana or even my chemical romance?" they won't know the first thing of what you are talking about. |
Girls Aloud aren't amazing by any stretch of the imagination, unless you're deaf. They have one good song or two, that's all. Not that I'd ever want to know the rest of whatever cheap excrements they come up with, 'cause I neither have the patience nor the bad taste to antagonise the obvious. They also look boring for a pop band, no style or fun. And watching the x factor and taking it seriously is like dwelling in misery with the intention of being permanently deaf. When will this madness ever end?
|
when are glice's delusions going to end? is there some kind of medicine for this sort of thing?
|
It's true that Girls Aloud have been a rather hit and miss affair, and I'd never try and convert anyone to their cause. Besides, this isn't a celebration of Girls Aloud so much as a bid to show support for their one truly avant-gardist member in a way that hopefully sees her leave their clutches. Not that she needs our support. She's probably on the phone right now, chatting with Irmin Schmidt about reification.

I know exactly what you mean, I really really do.

Here's the site I got those pictures from. Take a look, there's are other good ones.

She's a sharer too, look! Not like those others. For Roberts its all about giving back. You'd never get Harding or Cole sharing her Sangria like that. |

There's a lovely one where she's sitting sipping a glass of something. i can't seem to post it here but (IMO) Roberts at her very finest. |
That's right! EDIT - the post above the one you just posted. And funny that we were both commenting on her drinking:
It's actually quite nice to see her actually doing something normal like having a drink. She seems quite relaxed with her own company, self-sufficient, which I think is an attractive characteristic and makes me have more respect for her. |
I'm guessing the drink is pimms.
|
I've just noticed that the wellies she is wearing have heels. How stylish.
|
Pimms is a good call. I'm also betting that she's only there because she wants to check out Ute Wassermann's set in the 'Avant-Tent'.
The Wellies are a great touch, I agree. They offer that fusion of style and practically that is quintessential Roberts. I mean, in terms of contrast, look at Harding getting the avant-festival vibe completely wrong. I'll bet Roberts is so irritated having her around, mispronouncing Einsturzende Neubauten. ![]() |
I fancy a Pimms on a warm Summer afternoon right now. That's probably why. She's probably not enjoying hanging around "these bloody socialite airheads".
Yes, she has taste. |
