I'm speaking more along the lines of that the Velvet Underground were largely ignored and their influence and popularity didn't increase till wayyyy later. I just keep thinking the same would happen to Kayo Dot, as they are generally ignored and I think a lot of bands will end up taking ideas from them in the near future.

But, times are different so I don't know what'll happen.

Or is this the biggest bunch of shit you've ever seen in a thread before?

Any thoughts?

I agree, though it really depends on your definition of classic. As far as I'm concerned, there will be very few albums the last 8 or so years that will be considered "classic". The last time All Music Guide gave anything 5/5 was probably in 1998.

I don't care for this Vh1 "I Love The Whenever" mentality of ranking stupid shit of the past as soon as they are able to be.

ZEROpumpkins 06.27.2008 09:37 PM

Don't knock the 90's, man!

What the fuck? Are you joking!? I hate to make assumptions, but dude,.. pitchfork is not always completely gospel and true... Lil Wayne is doing nothing interesting/innovative/worth hearing whatsoever. The only thing he has going for him is - nothing. At all.
Really, now?!

Oh right, well that's that question taken care of then. I mean, if the All Music Guide says so...

batreleaser 06.27.2008 10:55 PM

i just saw modest mouse open for rem (took my dad to see em for father's day) and i can honestly say it was one of the worst gigs ive ever seen. all new songs, completley unenthusiastic, guitars sounded bad, and they had two fucking drummers and the beats were flatter than meg white's alone.

super_charger 06.28.2008 09:09 AM

MM went from being a really great band to being one of the worst in the space of like a year.
