I'd say it was more than just stupid, it was asinine and thoughtless, Likud-style.

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/spy-t...ridicules.html

some choice quotes from the link i posted:

The Israeli commando attack on a civilian flotilla was “so stupid it is stupefying,” says former Mossad agent Victor Ostrovsky.

...

Responsibility for the raid, which has provoked widespread condemnation and a diplomatic uproar, should be laid at the feet of “the shoot-from-the-hip prime minister,” Ostrovsky said -- Binyamin Netanyahu, whom he blamed for two previous messy intelligence operations in Dubai and Jordan.

Flotilla 13’s typically careful planning, he speculated, was supplanted by orders from Netanyahu or his ultra-conservative foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman, to “do something now.”

“Nobody can do a good job in a rush,” he said.

Stopping the flotilla in international waters was “a grave mistake,” Ostrovsky said.

“Why not wait? They knew where it was going.”

...

The commandos could have easily sneaked up to the ships and boats from behind in “wet submarines” (which look like open torpedoes) and disabled their propellers, he said.

...

Ostrovsky said it was also inexplicable that the commandos were sent to land on the top decks in the middle of the ships, where they were vulnerable to resistance from terrified and angry passengers and crew. A better tactic would have been to have the commandos board from the stern and bow and work inward.

...

“We look like the British stopping the Exodus,” he said.

etc.

good to know you're stuck back in 1982 fighting the good fight against those scurrilous rapscallions.

no, reality says its racism, and if you keep arguing against reality you only reveal that you yourself might be a racist, and thats a shame, nobody should be a racist. In this particular incident big brother just nods in agreement with reality. I'm sorry to have to be so blunt about it, but you are fucking stupid, and if I didn't believe in censorship I'd make you the first on my ignore list in 6 years of SYG.

Your reality. The reality you were brainwashed into believing was the true reality, which is Big Brother's form of reality. Think for yourself instead of letting others do the thinking for you.

What you're doing is blurring the line between his fictional book and his factual life. Your argument that you can't liken the subject matter of his book to the current political climate created by the lunatical left because he was a liberal is fucking retarded. His book was an allegory of Stalinist Russia. Political correctness is the creation of the lunatical left. It's easy to see a connection. It's why the media call it "Orwellian".

melanie philllips is not the media, her journalism and opinions are something closer to a dangerous joke. if the left really was what you like to imagine it is she wouldn't have a column in a national newspaper. i wish all your persecution fantasies would come true because it would be better for everyone. melanie phillips vision of liberalism is abhorrent. to argue that people can't adopt because they have genitalia that are too similar is absurd. its homophobia disguised with this "oh we believe in your right to exist and to have free speech" bullshit. totally disengenuous when you are barely able to disguise your contempt with platitudes to some sort of faux equality. but those like you do enjoy singling out minute examples and embellishing them to fit the paranoid persecution complex you develop when you realise that not everyone is going to sit down and cower to your oppressive and backwards worldview.

when you talk about political correctness you really mean your "right" to feel superior and persecute minorities. soon the time will come when we start to persecute YOU to the point where the right wing is just a shameful memory of history.

we have truth, empathy and intelligence on our side when all the right has ever had has been fear, intimidation and antiquated christian barbarity. put simply you are too stupid and out of touch with reality to last. neo conservatism has been your great gift to modernity and its resulted in genocide and bankruptcy. you've had your turn and look at the atrocity and disaster that has resulted. free market economics anyone? apart from violence towards minorities who must be blamed for the failure of the straight white male master class to act as god what else do you have?

you hate a caricature of the left like someone hates an oppossing football team. thats it. otherwise you're too stupid and powerless to have any affect on anybody. you just stew in your own hatred, reading the mail and wondering why you're life is so fucked up and who you can find to blame it on.

if you could ever bring yourself to stop projecting hate onto others then you'd find they might actually be your friend and you wouldn't feel so horrible?

The fact that political correctness is not legislated, unless in cases which may be considered libel though that is independent of politics, is more than enough to obliterate this kind of sophomoric, internet-whining. In fact, I really hate it when anyone cites 1984 when describing contemporary politics, regardless of political affiliations. It exposes a pathetically naive understanding of politics that needs to subsume everything into fantastic caricatures of power through use of hyperbole. I identify it with Godwin's law.

ni'k 06.09.2010 05:57 PM

oh wow. what a surprise that the troll is incapable of discussion. no doubt saving his energy for the next time he can try to drag someone else down to his own depressive hell.

and you've used the spittle-flecked line about 5 times already.

You're still smarting over Labours defeat in the general election? Get over it, lefty.

ni'k 06.09.2010 06:03 PM

i don't support labour. this is some of the worst trolling you have ever done.

pbradley 06.09.2010 06:08 PM

Without any sort of evidence that political correctness is enforced by the law, any campaign against political correctness is really just a campaign for a right-wing variant of political correctness which seeks to silence any who would publicly condemn their racist, sexist, homophobic, and xenophobic comments. If you must have it analogized to 1984, the argument for the right to be politically incorrect is the argument for the right to say 2 + 2 = 5 without being corrected.

You must hate it when champions of contemporary politics like Hitler and Stalin are vilified.

pbradley 06.09.2010 06:15 PM

Is that an intentional non sequitur or are you really that confused?

1984 is an allegory on totalitarian regimes like those of Hitler and Stalin. You cited you hate it when 1984 is cited when describing contemporary politics. So basically you're saying Hitler and Stalin were contemporary in their politics. It means we've gone full circle and my point about political correctness being "Orwellian" stands.
