sweet, gettin it

fugazifan 07.30.2009 12:06 AM

great. id really like to hear what you think.
the first track didnt get me the first time, but it really drags you in IMO...

batreleaser 07.30.2009 11:09 AM

i got a casette by a band called dead times who i saw at ass220 in provi last week. cool free noise-punk stuff with one dude on guitar and pedals, one dude on synths and other electronics, and one hot sexy girl on vocals, voical manipulations, synths, and a buncha other stuff. they sounded like a nosie version of an 80s gothic synth band, with siouxie as the lead. also sorta reminded me of a much much heavier zola jesus.

batreleaser 07.31.2009 09:13 PM

children's hospital-alone together will be in my top 10, guranteed

its an album by israeli guitarist yair yona. its VERY influenced by john fahey and basho and he is very aware of that. but it is still an icredibly good "american primitive" album, that has a lot of self awareness.
i was priviliged enough to ionterview him for the radioo two days ago and it aired yesterday.
anyhoo he has put up his entire album for Download. although its nicer if one was to buy it...

That riff in "Two Thousand Islands" is like a drugged and slowed down "The Empty Page", isn't it?

BushIsAPsycho 08.02.2009 02:23 PM

hey that Yari Yona CD is amazing! It def sounds like Jack Rose too, whom I saw live a couple of times. I'm listening to the first track right now.

Once I get a turntable I'm going to get all the Bardo related releases that came out this year, can't wait.

This is pretty cool:

Just released on SubRosa, listened to the first disc, some real gems on there. Pretty mellow, kind of hoping the later discs will be harsher sounding.

batreleaser 08.02.2009 02:29 PM

the best bardo pond releases ive heard this year are alesehir's "torment of the metals" lp:

"Alasehir's 4th release, following a CD apiece for the Important, aRCHIVE and Siltbreeze labels, Torment of The Metals "continues their sonic exploration of dense, languorous, free expansion. Billowing and exploding like a cluster of hashish stars, they produce a cosmic energy akin to a quasar in the heavens far left of Coltrane's OM and just right of the galaxy known as Dead C's Harsh '70s Reality

One of four Bardo Pond-related LPs to be released this week, Alasehir's Torment Of The Metals is the product of Michael and John Gibbons from the aforementioned stoner rock icons. This LP is at the more brain-frazzled end of the psych/sludge scale, featuring huge, furious guitar riffs, passages of extreme fuzz and some killer free-rock drumming from Jason Kourkounis. The band get through three tracks in forty minutes, which isn't as sluggish as it sounds - sure, they grind to a thoroughly tuned-out pace for much of 'Wheel Of Anguish', but this LP is heavy and intense in all the right ways. And just check out the righteous sleeve..."

and the moon phantoms lp:
"Another Bardo Pond-related LPs out on Important Records, this release from Moon Phantoms features Michael and John Gibbons, Isobel Sollenberger, Jason Kourkounis and Suishou No Fune's Pirako Kurenai and Kageo helping out on guitar and vocals. That's some line-up, and as is to be expected from such a stellar cast, this is wholly brilliant piece of avant-rock improvisation. The prevailing tone of the first side, as dominated by the immense 'Departure Into Space' is one of colossal free roaming psychedelia, with a real sense of depth provided by the wall of guitars, which is soaked in just the right amount of distortion as straggly lead parts flail around the atmosphere casting off solo licks. The B-side is the real star here though, 'All Is Dyed In The Midnight' involves a roomier. more restrained approach, meaning guitars are used for soundscaping and Isobel Sollenberger's flute is able carve out some otherworldly melodic lines. A blast."

Katharsis "Fourth Reich" is perfect and raw black metal, it's incredible, I only liked Malkuth's "Sefiruh" more as far as metal goes.

EvdWee 08.02.2009 03:19 PM

AllHandsOnTheBigOne 08.12.2009 08:29 PM

Man, I'm dying for a link to that Zs album, Music of the Modern White. Can't find one anywhere.

atsonicpark 08.12.2009 08:35 PM

Okay, here:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/cl4ga9

it's not just the new zs you're looking for.. that's in there, but it's got a vivian girls single, the new robedoor album, the new greg davis album, and the new six organs album. Sorry if you don't want any of that other stuff, but the .rar as a whole is only 202mb. My friend wanted me to send all those albums to him and sicne they were all small I just put 'em all together. Get it quick before the link expires....

fugazifan 09.03.2009 10:32 PM

i finally bought the master musicians of bukkakae cd. it really is an amazing album. by far my favorite of the year. just a stellar album.

atsonicpark 09.03.2009 10:34 PM

yes, someone else sees the light.

fugazifan 09.03.2009 10:52 PM

i thought i always had the light:)

it feels like one of those albums that i will definitely remember in five years. not like other albums that may be good when first hearing but are ultimitely fogoten. like fuck buttons or something like that.

i also finally got the eternal. really great album. its most certainly not their best. but it rocks and is really tight and consistent. so its fun. i like

atsonicpark 09.08.2009 02:10 AM

if anyone wants the robe. album that was released on blackest rainbow earlier this year, here it is:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/u5kekm

Personally, it's my favorite album I've done!

Also, scissor shock's

I'm either the only one here who cares or the only one who has it.

batreleaser 09.08.2009 10:01 PM

new six organs might be chasny's best work yet

batreleaser 09.08.2009 10:04 PM

You really think so? I think it's his most dull. It feels like a greatest hits version of stuff he's already done a thousand times, a compilation of all his styles, it's very all over the place and it doesn't have a good flow. It's certainly his best-produced, but only a few of the songs really do anything for me.

batreleaser 09.09.2009 10:39 PM

all in the guitar work for me, and he seemingly gets more skilled every time i hear him.
