yes yes yes yes and yes to everything you just said
i can't just sit down and write a song, it sounds too forced. i can sit and fuck around and come up with a riff real fast with no real ideas in my head but that's total improv. it just feels much more natural to me since i haven't had any kind of formal training, i just picked up my dad's guitar one day and went gung ho.

Satan 07.19.2009 05:07 AM

yr making me wish i lived in georgia
i want to start a band with you

Satan 07.19.2009 05:14 AM

yr right, untrained musicians are the best kind
steve is a great drummer, he was amazing the other night. very on point.
speaking of that, you know who is a fucking awesome drummer is allison from awesome color.
i wanna do something really aggressive like touch me i'm sick and shit like that

Florya 07.19.2009 05:15 AM

I've been thinking about publishing my Brighton Beach SY photos as a book.

Do you think anyone would buy it?

Satan 07.19.2009 05:16 AM

from '85? yeah i think people would buy it. i didn't know you took those. i always liked them.

Satan 07.19.2009 05:24 AM

thank you very much
that isn't my real voice though, i can change it to sound like that but if i just sing my voice is quite lower and much more scratchy and better suited to something harder than a lot of my recorded output. to be honest kind of similar to brody dalle which is kind of a curse because i'm not trying to compare myself to anyone but it does.

i really really would rather do more aggressive rock shit. i don't know why i haven't. the beast just hasn't come out yet i guess.

Satan 07.19.2009 05:30 AM

i did but i don't remember what it was, i think it was peace attack

yeah it was i just found it, it was just me and an acoustic

I would.
You should throw in some "memories" along with the pics, I bet you'd have interesting stories to share...

nicfit 07.19.2009 07:48 AM

Thanks guys. I have loads more, taken last night at the AMAZING fireworks show for the "Festa Del Redentore" in Venice...you can't see it coz it was a bit more on the right (and the lights were shut down for the show), but I'm on Giudecca Island, right in front of Saint Mark's square. First time ever I see these fires from this angle, and it is SO much better than watching them from S.Mark...

a couple more

the fireworks were shot from 3 boats, the camera couldn't even "take" the whole scene, I took most of the pics almost randomly (just keeping the manual setting I initially "came up" with) coz I couldn't take my eyes away from the show hehe, that's why the horizon is a bit tilted etc....

Florya 07.19.2009 12:06 PM

Just been given an Olympus OM1n with an F1.8 50mm lens and an F2.8 28mm lens!!

i love that picture of little genghis
how old was that film?

more awesome color

Mrs. Butcher 07.19.2009 06:11 PM

not that old, it's just my scanner doesn't work for 120 film and i have no dark room here so i have to bodge it and it doesn't come out so well. looks ok on that one though.

Satan 07.19.2009 06:43 PM

ahhh it looks way expired (which i love)
good work

so i have a question about 120, how is it compared to shooting 35mm? as far as loading/unloading mostly but also actually shooting it...more diffcult, less?

the same. just bigger. so you get less grain/can make larger prints, of the same physical space. this is what makes it attractive to pro photographers and why it's the film of choice when not shooting digitally. comes in different iso just like 35 mm. it's just a different shape of the same stuff.

loading is different but not a big deal. it comes on a paper roll thingie usually. it's a bit sexy to me because of that.

Just cleaning up some fuz/colour-cast/scratches on photos and come across this. I didn't take this photo, it's a polaroid from the late 70's. But I've always loved it, because it shows off my sister's personalities so perfectly.

Satan 07.20.2009 11:35 AM

that is so genius

what about rolling it back up/unloading though? can't you not roll it back into the canister so you have to do it in a completely dark room or darkbag or something? and the no sprocket hole BS.

dirty bunny 07.20.2009 03:05 PM

That is a beautiful sunset Torn Curtain (the first shot). The colours are amazing.

I guess it depends on what camera you're using, but as far as I remember the pack comes with another reel that the film winds on to as you shoot, and then at the end there is a blank sheet which goes over itself, then once you unload you peel back and stick down another piece over the top.. which gives you a roll to take in and develop ( and is what I remember getting most of the time, because the unpeeling is annoying in the dark bag when the sticky bits don't stay where you put them.)
If you're unsure though after you've shot, just leave it in the camera and take it to the lab. It needs to be changed on to a different roll to process anyway in most cases, so they should be happy to take it out of the camera for you.

Satan 07.21.2009 12:04 AM
