Finally seeing this after hearing a lot of good things about it on horror sites. Definately owes a ton to "Friday the 13th". At times its so over the top though you're not sure if it wants you to take it seriously or laugh at it. It wants to say its a throwback to 80's slasher movies and I love 80's horror. This wasn't quite that good, but it came close. Haven't seen the second one, chances are its more of the same rather then upping the ante.

One of the more interesting revenge movies in recent (maybe all) revenge movie history. Definitely a big step above Death Sentence at least.

Min-sik Choi (of Oldboy fame) is a RIDICULOUSLY good actor. He just sells every scene he's in. Whether he's getting his ass kicked or killing someone, or even just driving around. He's just spellbinding. The other lead is good too, though he doesn't have as much to work with, as he plays most of his scenes as very stonefaced, but it works remarkably well.

It's an interesting film beyond most of this type in how it shows how a 'monster' is created and why they take on such practices. It's also a nice twist on the genre where it's the killer being stalked, and it's pretty violent if not somewhat unrealistic in how people repeatedly get their heads smashed in but somehow live. All in all a pretty interesting movie.

Liked this one. This is only the third Argento movie I've seen, and this might be my favorite. Yes, even more then "Suspiria".

Inferno rules. Honestly, I think the 80's may have been the best decade overall for Argento as a director. My personal favorite (overall, not just the 80's) is Phenomena, but Tenebre shouldn't be missed either.

Thanks for the reccomends. There is a whole section on Netflix in their instant watch section on Italian horror. I've read a lot of articles on these movies, on the "giallo" films that Argento and others made popular back in the 70s/80s but have not seen many of them. Also I love 80's horror generally speaking. Definately for American horror, but it seems it was a great decade for Italian horror as well.

The Shiver of the Vampires

French vampire flick - absolutely brilliant from start to finish. A new favorite, for sure. I don't think I've ever seen a film master such strong Gothic imagery with such a psychedelic palette of colors. Reminds me a lot of the trippier Hammer flicks.

One of my favourite horror movies ever. Spot on about the Hammer connection. You can also tell that Rollin was hanging out with all the guys involved with the nouvelle vague. Brilliant film.
