only the cover creeps me out

nicfit 08.20.2008 04:02 PM

it's a somewhat "old stle" horror movie with one of my fav actors ever and it's fun and "citazionist"(?)

great movie. sydney lumet did not disappoint and richard burton was AWESOME. plus some of the lines off the script (this coming from a play) were really great.

al shabbray 08.20.2008 04:05 PM

its kind of a love/hate relationship between me and movies which feature, multiple little scary things which kill their victims

krastian 08.20.2008 04:44 PM

Went up and saw it with a friend and his little girl.

It was pretty good.....almost non-stop action. In a weird way it was better than the first 2 prequels because it didn't have hardly any of the horrific sappy dialogue between Anakin, Padame, and Obi Wan.

Although it wasn't really "The Clone Wars." They should've called it "Gettin' Jabba's Kid Wars."

MellySingsDoom 08.20.2008 04:50 PM

Turkish Star Wars.

Review: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Marks: -23/10 (for quality); +50/10 (for sheer idiocy value)

That's generous.

I laughed a few times at least.

atsonicpark 08.21.2008 11:50 AM

Also, chick with glasses was hot.

Sonic Youth 37 08.21.2008 11:53 AM

I guess it merits a 2 then. The Friday the 13th remake might pull a 2.5.

atsonicpark 08.21.2008 12:04 PM

At least he still looks cool.

I'm a big fan of all those Friday the 13th movies. Great atmosphere that I know the remake will lack. Ah well, I'm not going to pay to watch it.

floatingslowly 08.21.2008 12:16 PM

my netflix queue has languished for almost 6 months; however, I got back on the ball and returned shit that I've had FOREVER.

yesterday brought me 3 discs of Samurai Champloo that I had not gotten to before. disc 4 down! 5-6-(7) to go.

cartoons count as movies, right?

atsonicpark 08.21.2008 12:38 PM

My netflix queue is always maxed out at 500. I get 4 movies a week and then fill up 4 more movies.

atsonicpark 08.21.2008 01:13 PM

funny games (u.s. version) - 5/10

That's a high 5, leaning towards a 6. Some interesting ideas but not a particularly good movie really. Didn't like any of the characters or the plot though the directing was interesting and NAKED CITY is on the soundtrack. I dunno, worth seeing, but it's not really good.

This is a great flick to watch back to back with Amadeus. Peter Shaffer used the same themes in both plays.

I think I may have written this before.

Yeah, I thought Jabba's uncle was kind of like a weird mix between Meatwad and Eric Cartman.

schizophrenicroom 08.23.2008 11:55 AM

i watched part of zodiac today in between the olympics:

stylish and creepy movie, but 2 hours 45 minutes is too fucking long for a movie where i know how it ends.

mil_pl 08.23.2008 12:53 PM

oh, I must watch this.. I've bought DVD like a half year ago! thanks for reminding me :p

drrrtyboots 08.23.2008 12:57 PM

Zodiac was really good; I hate Jake Gylenhaal but even he did okay!

al shabbray 08.23.2008 02:39 PM

in my opinion zodiac had even could have been longer because its really good. soaked it up, perfect for a lazy sunday afternoon when it rains. hopefully it will tomorrow

atsonicpark 08.23.2008 02:40 PM

Yeah, it definitely should've been longer.

al shabbray 08.23.2008 02:41 PM

did fincher ever a movie which is under 2 hours?

atsonicpark 08.23.2008 02:42 PM

Haha nope.

..

The only Fincher film I don't like thus far is Panic Room. Pretty damn consistent director.

al shabbray 08.23.2008 02:44 PM

yeah panic room is ok, but not more or less. but for the really high standards fincher sets it wasnt enough.
fight club is one of my favourites, and seven too. zodiac is one of my favourite serialkiller movies. I am thinkin bout some more, but cant remmeber. but even if he havent done anything else that be an ace filmography

krastian 08.26.2008 07:34 PM

Well, not really a movie, but yeah.

EMMAh 08.26.2008 08:25 PM

I loved it. Those fucking idiot skinheads make me laugh.

john carpenter's vampires - 6/10
starship troopers - 6/10
deadline - 7/10
the watcher - 5/10
mortuary - 2/10
arlington road - 7/10

cars_willkillyou 08.27.2008 05:10 AM

Serenity...for the 12th time now i think.

I love it. I'm a huge fan of the show Firefly. I usually watch one episode a day. Not because I like it that much that I HAVE to see it everyday, but just because everything on tv sucks, and its become as routine as my cigarette smoking. I can live without it, but I dont really want to.

cars_willkillyou 08.27.2008 05:11 AM

oh, and if anyone hasnt seen/heard of it, i obviously highly recommend it. you can stream both the show (only 14 episodes) and the movie online from a lot of websites. I use tv-links.cc

I used to use hulu.com but i think they removed firefly.

nicfit 08.27.2008 05:20 AM

Firefly/serenity rule.
dvd boxsets are pretty cheap, btw, worth buying after you get a glimpse of the glory streaming a couple episodes.

So, last bunch of days I had lots of things to do and slept in another person's home, had the chance to watch a bunch of movies old/new:

Gunny - no comment needed
Firefox - "" ""
Forgetting Sarah Marshall (much much much better than expected, and, damn, Meg Griffin grew up nicely...), I know it's not a masterpiece or anything, but guys, you have no idea how much WORSE italian actors are when it comes to modern lighthearted comedies these days...
Hellboy II the golden army visually stunning, lots of details and great art that deserves multiple pause-rewind-play moments to see all the stuff in the frame, story not really original but still cool, aaaand another brunette in this one too....
fifth element - ba daaa bum
