I'm getting good ideas for my Netflix queue. Thanks, everyone.

We don't have TV here in the new world.

The Bank Dick

Brilliant. One of the few comedies that makes me laugh out loud pretty much from beginning to end.

Iron Man

I'm trying to catch up with the tonnes of Hollywood superhero adaptations that've come out in the last few years. I've not seen many at all (I still haven't seen a single Batman or Spiderman film) but I just caught this on TV and liked it a lot more than I expected, at least until the full-on action took over, when it just turned into Transformers.

Any recommendations of recent superhero movies would be really welcome. There's very little chance I'll have seen any you mention and, as I said, I'm just curious to see more.

iron man was pretty badass! and funny.

hmphh thor, maybe? it was alright if i recall.

i gotta go. still at work :( booo hooo hooo....

demonrail666 02.26.2012 08:44 PM

Yes, it was very funny in parts. Robert Downey Jnr was great and even Gwyneth Paltrow managed to be really funny at times.

Haha, sods law means that Thor is one of the very few I have seen. I did really like it.

LifeDistortion 02.26.2012 11:58 PM

Can't go wrong with "Superman". The first one, with Christopher Reeve

demonrail666 02.27.2012 01:12 AM

Haha, another one I've seen. So what I suppose I meant was superhero movies made after Tim Burton's Batman, besides Thor and (off the top of my head) Fantastic Four and Watchmen.

Keystone Comedies DVD

A collection of Keystone shorts that I picked up out of curiosity. I was most interested in seeing some Keystone Cops footage but they actually don't feature much. Comedy wise it's really not that funny.

Just one of my favorite black comedies... and strangely enough, it's a humorous film about pedophilia. A well crafted portrayal of our convulsions and obsessions that ultimately lead to self destruction. In this case, the causes are quite bizarre. Peter Sellers is easily one of my favorite actors of all time. I hardly care much for individual actors... so maybe that's saying something. Clare Quilty (aka Doctor Zempf) is the best! I really need to start picking a better time to watch a movie. 5 in the morning. I figured I'd throw my thoughts on this film here as I'm not tired. I hardly find conversing on the internet or in person desirable at this point since others and myself are rarely ever on the same page about anything. Goodnight you lifeless, rotting, insufferable parasitic debris incubating message board. I have dreadful tasks ahead of me and must continue to illustrate my inadequacy. Enjoy your movies.

Definitely the weirdest I've seen James Mason act in a movie. He's hysterical.

Parents is a nice bizarre kind of picture. The sets and decor are amazing. I love the furniture. The acting is pretty great on all parts, though at times I was bummed out that Randy Quaid and Sandy Dennis were in the film. Not because they were bad, but because I recognized them that it took me out of the moment of it trying to maintain that 60's vibe.

Also, I'm a meat eater through and through, love steaks, burgers, and all that stuff. But man, could this movie make eating meat look gross. Which I thought was pretty cool.

The Wild Beasts (1984) Uncut

When PCP gets into the water supply of a large zoo in Frankfurt, Germany, it soon becomes blood and gore galore as the zoo animals go crazy, break out of their cages, and go on a homicidal, nigh time rampage through the city killing any person they see starting with sewer rats killing a number of strangers, then tigers, cheetahs, lions and even elephants join in the killing spree. Zoo veterinarian Rupert Berner, his scientist girlfriend Laura, along with a local police officer, Inspector Braun, try to find a way to control the murderous animals and stop them before they decimate the entire city in this "nature strikes back" horror film.

My fave Kubrick as well. And right up there in my top 10 favorite movies.

Recently watched:

The Innkeepers- another terrific little low fi horror experiment from Ti West

The Silence of the Sea- Jean Pierre Melville debut film, a chamber piece about a morally conflicted Nazi Lieutenant. Features the hallmarks of later Melville such as economic editing and quick cuts to fleeting glances and eyes. Man I love this guy's films so much.

The Night of the Generals- HUGELY underrated late 60's drama with Omar Sharif investigating a serial killer among the ranks of the Nazi elite. This and "The Silence of the Sea" would make for a great double bill!

All the President's Men (Blu Ray)- One of my top ten faves of all time. I was a bit disappointed in the Hi-def transfer though.

5 stars for the poster! But Netflix gives the movie a rating of only 2.5. Sorry.

Kim Gordon is in it but I'd probably agree with Netflix's rating. It wasn't great...
