started to play it with a freind of mine last night.

I have to say I much prefer the genesis/mega drive shadowrun over this one. but its still a really good game, just much more linear

both games are PS!!!!
if oyu wanna use it for the downgrade feature I am not too sure about import games.

I want to play Star Wars the Old Republic MMO.

I really wanna play Guns of the Patriots and I finally need a Blu-Ray player, so I'm kinda searching for reasons to buy it.

Oh yes. Absolutely. Call me pessimistic if you want, but I can see it all now: Kinect comes out, then the Move, and the casual market eats it all up. With one taste of the billions from casual gamers, Sony and Microsoft quickly change direction from the PS360 being consoles for mature gamers who cut their teeth on Super Mario Bros and the like to HD family fun machines. One of two things will happen:

1. Nintendo will finally wise up and realize that they've got to offer something Kinect and PlayStation Move don't, like maybe deeper games that use motion control in an intelligent manner rather than a gimmicky novelty, either on the Wii or a new console, or go the way of their former rivals SEGA or simply die completely.
2. Nintendo will not change course on the Wii, but rather cut slash its price, allowing them to theoretically maintain headway above Sony and Microsoft, and in the meantime the core market dwindles to a few games a year, since the former "hardcore consoles" are now embracing the casual market. Sounds like what happened with PC gaming...

Granted scenario 1 is probably wishful thinking and scenario 2 is a worst case scenario, but Kinect and Move have the potential to change things, and probably not for the better. Congratulations, Nintendo, you may inadvertantly kill the market you helped invent.

I hate playing the wii if it is not something like wii sports. playing mario kart double dash on the wii sucks SHIT. I hate it.

my son was really digging MGS4. I took a look at it and can't stand how the old fart snake runs along at like 0.1 MPH. Nice graphics, gameplay and all, but the speed of the game, what I call, old man running (AKA: speed walking) looks infuriating. I passed.... although I was a big fan of the original PS2 MG-solid.

I saw somewhere that the big consoles are working on motion - interactive controlled platforms... namely Sony's.

I like playing Wii in little (gimmicky) spurts.... but the cuteness wears off quick. I've been playing some games that are better off using the traditional controls instead of the motion. The Wii controller, used as a traditional controller is the most ignorant thing. The D-pad is like .5" all the way around and you can't make intricate moves because the whole directional thing disappears under your thumb. Then, you can buy an aftermarket traditional size d-pad controller and play Wii like old NES, but that controller is wired and not necessary when you've got a sensor bar sitting on top of your TV.

I think nintendo should remake their staples like Zelda and Metroid up to par with PS3 and Xbox 360 specs.... even if it means selling out the rights to those titles to those co.'s. I'd love a modern, Zelda or metroid, first-person style up to par with todays first person shooter's quality.

I fucking hate 1st person shooters, and it seems that that is the one demographic that they make games for.

They make me dizzy/nauseous.
Plus why the need for ten billion version s of the same fucking game? why are all games about "space marines" if it is not some controlled REASON for it?

along those lines, after 9/11 they started pulling Windows Fl;ight Sims, and since then, the lack of flight sims on xbox and ps3 is very noticeable, and pisses me off.

I love flying games, like WWI dogfighting, WWII missions etc.
not enough of those games.

I love love love the GTA series because it is not just a first person shooter style

I like GTA and have mucho respect for the developers because of it's vastness, creativity, living world feel and all.... but I keep buying them and just personally, I never play them too long before I leave it alone. I think it's more about personal time and agenda, but I don't let myself get into them because they'd consume all of my time. Great games, but I almost resent them because they want to pull me in, and I don't let it happen. ...so in a twisted sense, I'm kinda over those games.

I don't get tired of FPShooters, but understand, this is just personally preference. I know plenty of people who can't look at FPS's for even 10 sec. without getting nauseous to the max. It's not just you.

I still have love for the classics and they are by all rights just as fun as the big consoles. I can play Zelda on DS over and over. But, to me, the charm of those titles are the creative world you're emerged into, the puzzles, the scenery, the battles and so on. I just can't help playing great engine FPS's and not think how gratifying it would be to be playing a creative game like Zelda in high quality FP... even if it took the angle of dark in stead of cartoony and bubbly. It could still have the same charm.

I'm getting over the third person thing after MGS's and Uncharted's because the fighting / shooting just get's redundant, lame if not even almost automated w/ that weird third-person kinda aiming. I love the Tomb Raider stuff more than anything, but there is least emphasis on the combat than the exploring and puzzles.

I just saw that on IGN, a perfect 10/10. I gotta get that!
