Yes, don't overlook Ed Wood. I had to leave a few minutes ago if I was going to The Dark Knight tonight.

What's the very best time and day to go to a movie theatre to avoid crowds? I'm thinking an early afternoon matinee on Tuesday or Wednesday?

How is everyone overlooking the nightmare before F-ing christmas? True it's image has been horribly tarnished by Hot Topic. But I remember going to the movies back in those days and coming out of every movie like, ah, that was pretty good. But I came out of Nightmare before christmas going HOLY CRAP that was awesome!!

it was so stupid when hot topic started putting Jack Skellington's face all over everything. Hats, backpacks, cd wallets, fanny packs, a million t-shirts, steering wheel covers, air fresheners and all the other garbage goths throw their money away to buy. I know a girl who has like, everything I just mentioned literally, drives a car with the steering wheel cover, has the bumper sticker on her car, wears the hat with his face.

Of course if you have a good memory, Jack Skellington's face was in the movie Beetlejuice

davenotdead 07.25.2008 08:11 PM

i didnt think it was that awesome

DeadDiscoDildo 07.26.2008 05:33 AM

I never dug it. & whatever with the hand buzzer fuck you, you know what I meant. Key word, silly, not handbuzzer.

pbradley 07.26.2008 05:47 AM

Tim Burton has made me sick with repeating his now campy style in every movie of his that I've seen. I can't even watch movies I originally liked by him like Beetlejuice or Edward Scissorhands. I am not a fan.

atsonicpark 07.26.2008 07:47 AM

OH i totally forgot he did ed wood

One of my favorite films ever even... well, in the top 50 or so.

Thank you guys.

Everyneurotic 07.26.2008 10:29 AM

the nightmare and ed wood are masterpieces; beetlejuice, edward scissorhands and mars attacks (among a few others i'm forgetting) are great.

the rest rank amongst the worse movies to ever be released by major picture studios.

I was like, god what is this crap. I hardly go to the bathroom, but I left several times.

I saw the movie tonight, I feel really disappointed, it didn't feel like a Batman movie at all :(

DeadDiscoDildo 07.26.2008 02:27 PM

To each his own.

Derek 07.26.2008 02:40 PM

Well I thought it was a very well made film and a lot of parts in it were definitely solid but the reason why I liked the Batman films and not other superhero movies is because I totally dig the whole atmosphere that the whole franchise portrays.

It just seemed like this movie and Batman Begins were completely removed from the Batman world and put into a normal world, which I hated. I also didn't like the music score at all, they should have just stuck with Danny Elfman's score that he did for the other films.

They definitely did not pull Two Face off as well as they should, his character was very one dimensional I thought.

Whatever, no one will agree with me hahaha.

DeadDiscoDildo 07.26.2008 02:47 PM

I agree about the normal world thing, but that's what nolan was going for. It's not exactly like our world but it's close. 'Heightened realism'

That said, the elfman theme would be silly in a film like this, it was good for back then but the whole superhero cliche theme song (usually elfman does em all) has lost its appeal to me at least. Begins was definitely more influenced by Blade Runner and The Dark Knight by Heat. The subtley of the music works for that in my opinion. It's more personal, especially the nods to the cohen brothers style where the music just fucking cuts out and leaves you in the moment.

It's just two takes on a character that has MANY incarnations.

I thought two face was great...would you rather have tommy lee jones again?

Derek 07.26.2008 02:49 PM

I can see where you're coming from, maybe I'm just clinging onto my Batman childhood haha.

And I didn't mind Tommy Lee Jones for the simple fact that he played his role true to the source material.

DeadDiscoDildo 07.26.2008 02:59 PM

No he didn't.

Two face always obeyed his coin. Tommy Lee Jones didn't.

& Two Face wasn't a cackling cunt/pun making joker wannabe. the worst thing about those two movies looking back, is that riddler and two face are both over the top and eccentric just like jacks joker, except that riddler and two face aren't eccentric characters. (minus the riddlers 60s show suit)

DeadDiscoDildo 07.26.2008 03:00 PM

Sorry I liked them when I was a kid too but now looking back the only one I dont hate is Batman 89.

Im posting too much in this thread.
