^ ha ha! Love that episode

funny thing is, at the end, Marge, who has been moanin and cryin about the gun and the gun is bad and the gun must be disposed of and yr lying about the gun etc., KEEPS THE GUN

demonrail666 08.06.2010 04:40 PM

Getting guns out of the cities makes absolute sense to me, but i see no reason why it needs to extend to other parts of the country.

Rob Instigator 08.06.2010 05:02 PM

Yeps. In the "Old West" times, many people upon entering small towns had to register and drop off their weapons/firearms at the local constables/sherrif office.

To keep the peace when people got stupid drunk

what a shame that went by the way side.

look on the bright side, americans are killing eachother. its what they want to do so let them keep doing it.

ann ashtray 08.06.2010 08:18 PM

Just tuned in to Larry King live...they're talking about how simple it is for prison inmates to make small handmade guns....interesting. I already knew it was easy, but...thought I'd throw that out there.

Firearms aren't going anywhere. Sorry guys.

why should there be different ages? again, insanity.
if you're considered mature enough to smoke, you should be mature enough to drink? and you can drive earlier than that? so you're not mature enough to give yourself cancer, but you're mature enough to drive a car, which is potentially dangerous to OTHER people.

oh, the contradictions.

It just takes ONE act of "god"/nature to destroy the thin veneer of society and rules and law that we all choose to live by.

It can happen anywhere.

When Hurricane Ike hit Houston, my area of town (near downtown and some iof the city's worst neighborhoods) was without power/electricity for 6-15 days straight.

That is 1-2 weeks without police protection, alarms ssytem working etc.

would have loved a gun then

Rob.

Why should you ever be for 1-2 weeks without police protection and all the aid that you could possibly get, that's the main issue there no? Why would your government allow people to be in such a vulnerable position without enough help, when they can certainly afford it?

And, yes, there is a Pro-Gun movement and it's quite strong and it's sponsored by the gun industry. You have to be very naive to think there isn't. They're an industry, they wanna sell and they 'adverstise' in every way they can, you just need to google a bit to find out how many websites they are sponsoring.

In fact, a few years ago they had people voting here on the gun issue, the question was: should we just stop selling them 100%? In the beginning most people wanted them to be banned. Throughout the year ALL you could see in the metro, TV, magazines, internet were cheesy adverts inciting paranoia, so they ended up not being banned. The pro-gun people had more money to advertise because they were getting MILLIONS from the gun industry, the anti-guy people barely had anything interested in contributing.

So, there you go, don't say naive things.

I'm pretty sure you can drink at 18 if you are in the military...it just has to remain on base. Sounds fair enough to me.

It amazes me how much some of these idiots think they know about America.

there are lots of things you can realise about something when you're not in the core of it.

especially about something that's omnipresent.

Oh really? I've been to almost every state, I've lived in 4 of them (Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Washington state). I've spent considerable amount of time in other states I didn't officially reside in (ie missionary work on a Navajo Indian reservation in NM), I've lived in one other country (Okinawa), I've been to two other countries (Japan...should add the Okinawan consider Okinawa to be a sperate country than japan + I agree with them...and Canada)

Don;t start shit if you don't know what yr talking about. False assumptions qualify anyone as an idiot, immediately.

I've not been everywhere in the world by any means, but I'm pretty well traveled.

knox 08.06.2010 10:44 PM

Is being two to other countries considered an accomplishment for americans? that's not meant to sound bitchy, just curious really.

For some, maybe. Not a bad thing, any sort of experience is an accomplishment. Travel ain't cheap.

knox 08.06.2010 10:49 PM

It has something to do with culture and laws, I suppose.
I mean, americans don't even have the right to paid holidays do they?
Now, in this culture, going to other countries is considered an essential educational experience, way more important than buying a car or a flat screen TV.

I don't think there is a law stating that we must receive paid holidays, most of us get it anyways though. I do.

Yr culture is clearly better than ours. Wonder how many family member from yr past either a) wanted to, or b) actually did move here.

We're a big melting pot for a reason.

All that stuff boils down to nothing more than entertainment, in the way that travel...or big screen TV's...is not really nec. for survival.

I'm so glad I don't think like you. Hopefully you feel the same about me...this is the kinda shit that makes the world awesome. it shoulod be chaotic and confusing and full of love and hatred.

Not really...it's one of few states that has almost everything to offer in the way of nature...the mountains, the oceans, it snows here, other places it doesnt....plus one of the biggest cities in the US.

It's not bad. I dig it here.

Still plan on moving to Chicago (hopefully) next year. We'll see.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but I think americans deserve paid holidays like everyone else.

knox 08.06.2010 11:13 PM

Travel can be seen as a form of entertainment for some people, but that's not what it's supposed to be.

And I'm the only person in my family who's had any business in the US.

ann ashtray 08.06.2010 11:26 PM

Entertainment is anything that doesn't involve eating/shitting/sleeping. Period.
