the sculpture is all by a friend of mine, seen here peeking through blurry mark's chin....

looking glass spectacle 11.08.2009 05:38 PM

pages torn from books with highlighted passages on narrow tables... on the walls, misinterpreted drawings of the passages, which all have to do with gender identity. from salinger: "she had big knockers." corresponding drawing shows door knockers grafted onto female torso...

in the center of the room, a table with all the books referenced. paper and pens are provided for you to draw your own versions of the passages in question...

these will themselves be exhibited at the end of the show...

tom violence was a band some friends of mine were in. this is them around 1995.

looking glass spectacle 11.11.2009 03:23 PM

the guy's name on the right is thom, and everyone always wanted to know if he was "tom violence" ... they always said that (aside from being a sy song) tomviolence was a concept analogous to tomfoolery.

Satan 11.11.2009 09:07 PM

that lady is gorgeous.

LGS, you are very very good at capturing people as they really are.

Satan 11.15.2009 11:50 PM

i think i like it because (obviously the highlighted bit) i found my name in it and my boyfriend's initials. you're channeling or something.

plus you just take really awesome pictures

is that 35mm?

looking glass spectacle 11.15.2009 11:56 PM

holy crap! you live in a salinger novel?

... it's digital, taken with a nikon d80.

Satan 11.15.2009 11:58 PM

yeah apparently! pretty rad.

how are nikon digis vs. canons?

looking glass spectacle 11.16.2009 12:10 AM

i've heard really good things about canon's image stabilization lenses for their digital cameras.

...but i have a good collection of nikon lenses that i've been building since before digital cameras... it was so easy to just buy a nikon digital body to use them with, canon would have to pull something pretty amazing out of their ass to get me to sell all my gear and switch...

Conrad 11.16.2009 11:56 PM

Shit picture, my sick boy
