I watched "Jump Off A Building" last night. It was a very lackluster skate video. I kinda liked it, but mostly just for the music (Joplin, SY, Dino Jr, Floyd, etc). It was super short and, well with a name like Jump Off A Building, I thought there might be more crazy stuff, not just your typical lines and stuff.

tron was a weird movie, it befuddled people because the charcters really do act like computers think.

I still don't have the foggiest idea what Tron is is actually about. It's like fucking long division in film form

um, i think i really didnt like it because the idea just did not work. there were a few clever moments, and some beautiful atmospheric ones, like the nuns with SCGs in the backround. but all in all there were to many shots of him doing his michael jackson moves and terrible dialogues.
i dont know. i just really did not work IMO. and for some reason i thought that JDB had some better aspects to it, and the jim orourke/doc boggs soundtrack really helped.

Man they were hardly any scenes of him doing Michael Jackson moves or impersonations; in fact, I think they were all at the beginning of the film. It was just a really simple art film about .. hm.. loneliness and why someone would want to become someone else, coupled with beautiful cinematography and a strange sentimentality that is completely lacking from other Korine films. The nun parts were the best.

haha. 24 hour party people is pretty funny (in a ridiculous way)... if inconsistent and boring at times.

Yeah, you've pretty much hit the nail on the head there.

I thought it was interesting but kind of odd how they had all these ridiculous and comedic parts with talking to the camera and shit and then out of nowhere, it was like Ian Curtis killing himself. I mean, I know it's a true story and I know ... some (most?) ... of that stuff actually happened. I just thought the dramatic change in tone in scenes was.. odd.

I know they are totally different movies, but I can see myself watching Control again before this. It wasn't bad, just nothing I'd consider watching again.

Oh yeah, Control was better. Just watched that one this week.

i watched it on the plane to and from ny and i have to say it's pretty boring, it has the occasional good joke but not a good movie for me.

i get tired of whimsical magical wonderful reality of michel gondry, to tell you the truth.


the general consensus with the people involved (that means the people who participated in the movie and those whose life this movie is based upon) is that the movie is about the rumours and legends that got around when the actual facts happened.

i think howard devoto actually appears in the movie saying "actually, i don't remember this happening that way."

i watched hard candy today for no real reason. it was just ok.

Dammit!! I still haven't watched that. Tomorrow is the day!

the visual look of the movie is cool, it's a gorgeously shot film, but maybe because i don't enjoy castrations or torture i was just a bit bored. but the lead up to the end is cool.

I'm not expecting to be blown away. I've just been meaning to watch it for so long and keep forgetting. Maybe it's not meant to be.

like how i've been meaning to watch this disc of six feet under that came from my blockbuster queue and every time i sit down to watch it i forget and just put on the history channel.

Yeah, I end up going to TCM as a default. African Queen is on now.

oh, sweet. i regret not putting the tv in my room because when i want to watch anything, i have to go in the living room and be around people. i can't handle that.

TV around people is way overrated.

i'm really into mad men on amc, and because my folks haven't watched the entire series, whenever i have it on they sit down with me and ask all sorts of plot questions. it gets to be a bit much when there's a dramatic scene or jon hamm just looks phenomenal in his suit and i have to answer her.

I'm like that with Lost. People I know ask if they can watch Lost with me and I ask them if they've seen the whole serious up until now and if their is no, then my answer is no until they've seen the whole thing because there is nothing I hate worse than having to explain plot holes in movies or TV to someone.

i refuse to watch lost with people around, except for my mom because it's one of our few traditions. my friend used to bug me to explain the show to him if he came over while i had it on, so i finally told him to just take my dvds.

battlestar galactica is annoying to explain because the idea of starbuck now being a girl just blows minds away. nevermind the plot.

If I'm home when it's on, I'll watch it with my mom. She's seen them all. A couple of friends and I had a party for the finale. Everyone was freaking out.

my dad loves battlestar and when the finale came on, because he was in texas we had to freak out to each other over the phone.

oh, sweet. i need to buy the season 4 dvds because i really can't recall most of what happened except for the finale and the amazing hour that was desmond's time-traveling adventure. the emmy's are going to be a close race this year.

DVDs come out in December I think. I've going to have a huge 4 seasons marathon before the new season starts.

When we moved this summer I was in the house alone and without cable for 3 or 4 days and all I did was eat pizza/poptarts and watch Lost.

arrested development is best watched in large chunks. my stepbrother and i sat up all night last month splitting two hugs bags of pizza rolls and red bull. we felt like hell the next day, but it was fun.
