Oh alrght then, just for you:
Joe Strummer is thorougly over-rated as a guitarist, and The Clash are unmitigated wank. (Am I doing it right now?) |
Yes Melly! YES!
|
yeah, the mc5 are crap.
|
clash hatin' is certainly unpopular with me. unless yr dissing sandinista, fuck that shit.
|
i've seen mick jones walking down oxford st. on sunday night, and i wanted to stop him to tell him that the clash were shit, but he looked fatigued and tired. Maybe he was tired of being rubbish for so long.
|
Mick Jones always looked a bit fatigued and tired when he was in the clash too. the price you get for being in a shit band, i suppose. He looked far more sprightly in Big Audio Dynamite, what with his big baseball cap.

rock the casbah is also a pile of wank |
sandanista's alright really. i definitely prefer it over any other clash album. probably because large parts of it sound fuck all like the clash.
|
i love a good blasting of should i stay or should i go on the stereo once in awhile
combat rock is kind of shit though except without straight to hell we wouldn't have the fantastic "paper planes" |
Do you think that if he slept more regularly the clash would have turned out to be less shit?
|
i like combat rock. about half of it, anyway. straight to hell is their best song.
give em enough rope sucks, too. edit: i was going to say that the clash would have been better off without mick jones but then i remembered cut the crap. haha. |

good point |
straight to hell is nowhere NEAR their best song
that is easily the most flippant statement i have ever heard in my life |
magnificent seven is their best song. and even that's shit.
|
i knew i should've thrown in that "pretty much" somewhere.
well, if it's not straight to hell, it's guns of brixton. |
i like them. i dunno. i think people expect too much of musicians.
|
i totally see where youre coming from. i agree for the most part. i prefer crass myself.
i think i like the undertones more than i like any punk band |
Only songs I've heard by The Clash in my entire life are: White Riot, Rock The Casbah, London Calling, Guns of Brixton. I always thought of them as an angry pop band.. not really punk.
I also agree about the punk and politics bit. Rarely does music that is political from the get-go turn out to be something worthwhile as MUSIC. This is why I still can't get behind Bikini Kill. Yet I really like Huggy Bear. Anyway, here is an example of shitty political music, a thoroughly uninspired commentary on white privilege: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8popa7M4tI |
All the Clash-bashing makes me a saaaaaad panda. :7(
