Happy 8,000 Hipster. Heres to 8,000+!

This is usually the only forum that I post on. I like to read others.

What are your plans for the evening?

Hip Priest 02.09.2007 03:52 PM

Thanks.

Not much. My girlfriend is in bed with some kind of virus. That means internet and shortwave for me, I would imagine.

Is there anything yellow in the room that you're in?

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.09.2007 03:54 PM

Good question. A yellowish glow from a candle, but thats about it. Does sun light count as yellow?

Do have any indoor plants you tend to?

Hip Priest 02.09.2007 03:56 PM

Several cacti and 'living stones'/lithops by the kitchen window, and one thing that was a present from my girlfriend's workplace.

What was the last thing you picked up off the floor?

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.09.2007 03:59 PM

I think it was oxygen tubing at work. I think.

What was the last thing you said out loud?

Hip Priest 02.09.2007 04:01 PM

'I love you'.

What is the last thing you were given for free?

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.09.2007 04:03 PM

Well, Sonicl sent me a song via PM today. That was certainly free.

Do you enjoy snow?

Hip Priest 02.09.2007 04:05 PM

Yes yes yes. I got up a couple of hours early yesterday to take some photographs.

Who is the last person you smiled at?

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.09.2007 04:10 PM

My co-worker, Edwin.

Currently reading a novel?

Hip Priest 02.09.2007 04:15 PM

No. I usually only read non-fiction.

favourite short story writer?

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.09.2007 04:21 PM

Hm. I'm going to risk sounding a bit too obvious, but the wit of his stories can't be denied. Anton Chekhov.

Good question, so I'll ask the same. Who is yours?

Hip Priest 02.09.2007 04:23 PM

HP Lovecraft or Giovanni Guareschi.

Do you have a favourite short story?

Trasher02 02.09.2007 04:26 PM

the Mellon collie death of Oyster boy

Are you obsessed by anything right now?

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.09.2007 04:27 PM

I do, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce. Great piece of American literature, a must read if you haven't already.

I have a growing affection for Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel.

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.09.2007 04:38 PM

A Rueben.

Do you know where the Rueben was invented?

sonicl 02.09.2007 04:39 PM

Hip Priest's first: Tony Benn. A man of principles, a very rare occurrence in politics these days.

Favourite sarnie: Cheese and pickle

and WECT's: I don't even know what a Reben is.

Whose photographs do you have on display in your living room?

Its the worlds greatest sandwich, and it was invented in Omaha (hence the question). There are some New Yorkers who claim to have been the first to serve the Rueben, but we all know New Yorkers are habitual liars!

The Rueben:
Dark rye bread, Russian dressing, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, and corned beef.

Unfortunately I have no photographs on the wall in the current room I am in. Perhaps a painting of a Rueben sandwich will do?

Who is your favorite painter?

Hip Priest 02.09.2007 05:13 PM

Hilda Carline or Paul Klee.

Name a favourite painting.

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.09.2007 05:20 PM

Carlos Catasse's, Arbo Rojo.

Off the top of my head...

Hip Priest 02.09.2007 05:30 PM

Proper old fashioned dandelion and burdock. Or Vimto.

Favourite religious or philosophical figure?

Richard Pryor on Fire 02.09.2007 05:44 PM

Vlad the Impaler.

Do you enjoy public speaking?

Hip Priest 02.09.2007 05:46 PM

No, although I'm preparing for it due to a possible career change type situation.

What was the last thing you threw? Who or what did you throw it at?

Richard Pryor on Fire 02.09.2007 06:33 PM

I threw a highlighter at my cat when I was trying to sleep and she was clawing at the door?

Guess what you get the gift of super powers from the super power gods, but the gods are tired of giving away invisibility, super strength, and flying, so you have to think of something orginal or they will smite you, so what's it gonna be.

davenotdead 02.09.2007 08:26 PM

the ability to withstand incredible amounts of pressure, and to breathe through water...

Magdala. I'd take over and rebuild it.

What was the last thing you read (book, newspaper article etc) that made a real impression on you?

nomadicfollower 02.11.2007 06:41 PM

A pretty general overview of Stoicism (in Bertrand Russell's History of Western Philosophy). I somehow feel compelled to agree with the beliefs held in such a system, but I think passion is more important than Stoics believe. (the impression it made, however, is wholly personal, and probably not quite obvious)

Same question.
