After the rush on edible stuff, people lock themselves uo.
I went to the baker (who's my next-door neighbour) today.
She was quite bored but felt happy she had to work rather than stay in her 40 square meter apartment.
The boring thing for her is that there's so few customers they don't know what to do. They're going to reduce the choice on pastry for instance. They'll narrow it down to the most bought stuff.

And they're talking about reducing the opening hours so that no sales person has to stand there wondering what she/he's doing there.
I'm on the fringes of a 12 000-soul city.

Can't help thinking about life in Paris now, in those tiny apartments.

1) require a social security number for purposes of the child tax credit

I agree with this absolutely and advise Senator Paul to assume be a position of no compromise;

2) provide the President the authority to transfer funds as necessary

Ditto;

3) terminate United States military operations and reconstruction activities in Afghanistan.

Agree entirely but advise the Senator to show some compromise on this point, but not to cave in cheaply.

Yes Sir, lived in Beaumont all my life until we lost hour home in 2017 due to flooding from tropical storm Harvey. We now live in Nederland, Texas which is just a stones throw South of Beaumont.

Many (not all) local and state restaurant chains are closing their dining rooms and opting for drive through / curbside pickup......doing so on their own without local municipalities ordering them to do so.

Other than longer than usual lines at the big box stores, and sometimes bare shelves, the inconveniences to our community have been minimal this first week......hope I can say the same next week!

^ The fact that you're quoting one of the masters of irony puts this in the category of ridiculously meta-ironic.

Our PM is making a speech right now. He mentioned supporting the economy before Australian health. Still no school closures here

The Dutch minister for healthcare has resigned due to overtiredness. He collapsed during a debate yesterday evening (which had lasted for several hours) and today decided that he can't continue.

If you still listen to the radio, be prepared:

Radio stations across Europe will run You'll never walk alone after the idea of 3fm DJ Sander Hoogendoorn

With all the radio morning shows in the Netherlands playing one song at the same time to remain united in this corona crisis. That was the idea of 3FM DJ Sander Hoogendoorn last Tuesday. It is now getting so out of hand that all of Europe wants to participate. Studio Brussel, BBC Radio 1 and 2 and many more European stations are participating to play "You'll Never Never Walk Alone" on Friday at 8.45 a.m.

Sander called Jeroen Kijk in de Vegte of NPO Radio 2 on Tuesday in his broadcast to launch the idea. Sander: ,, This crisis shows that it brings people together. We all need to put our shoulders to the wheel, Mark Rutte said, to get out of this. Then I thought, can't we play a song with all the morning shows in the Netherlands at the same time? ”

And so he approached more morning shows, at home and abroad, with the idea: all morning shows run Friday at 8:45 am at the same time "You'll Never Walk Alone". The participating radio stations so far are:

Coronavirus Outbreak Could Destroy Up To 25 Million Jobs - ILO

Dammit, I intended to go look for a new job in the near future provided that I'm somehow cured from this burnout, and there is/was plenty of opportunities available. But now the market has changed completely and I could end up jobless....
