The more I look back on 2011, the more I think "Let england shake" was the best album of the year. It's got such an incredible sound and vibe! sometimes it even sounds a bit like Tom Waits-style production.

The more I listen the more I like, and I've been listening for months. Usually my album flings only last a few weeks.

GREAT LINK!

Yeah, "Let England Shake" is very great, but I still think "White Chalk" and "a Man a Woman Walked By" are greater. And to me greatest last year release is Tom Waits newest. And SYR 9 is very near!

CAN'T WAIT

If she tours, I'm gonna sell everything I own to follow her.

Mortte Jousimo 12.19.2015 02:28 AM

Fucking great news!!! I have had hard times to wait her new album (there was information about her new album already this January) but it was worth of it! That new material sounds so amazing (and naturally she still looks amazing). I can say already now what will be the best album 2016! She seems to go again quite new direction, but now I haven´t got nothing to complain as I first had with Let England Shake!

And the best thing is, she´s coming also to Finland! I am already in heaven...

Great news!

PJ Harvey Previews New Single

PJ Harvey has released a sneak preview of her forthcoming single.

The track will air in full on BBC Radio 6 from 4pm GMT Thursday on Steve Lamacq's show.

Harvey has already released a teaser trailer for her new album, which documents her journeys to Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C.

The album –as yet untitled– was recorded during her month long residency at Somerset House, Recording in Progress, in which audiences were given the opportunity to see Harvey at work with her band and producers in a purpose-built studio.

Harvey has announced additional festival dates for 2016.

She plays Norway's Øya festival, which takes place at Tøyenparken, Oslo, between August 9 and 13.

She will also play Sweden's Way Out West, which takes place in Slottsskogen Park, Gothenburg between Thursday August 11 and Saturday August 13.

It's not yet been confirmed which specific days Harvey will play.

Harvey previously announced a headline slot at Field Day at London's Victoria Park on June 12.

Wow, new PJ. That's excellent. I'm absolutely going to make time to see her.

Been rocking PJ a lot recently. Especially Let England Shake. I'm totally ready for some new shit.

So I'm a PJ newb and I have a question (not trying to offend any die hards here btw).

I never really looked into PJ's music too much because I listened to "Let England Shake" and while I liked the music, the high pitched layered vocals thing on those tracks wasn't working for me.

Now i've discovered Rid of Me and I'm FUCKING BLOWN AWAY. It's like a whole different person. The vocals are so raw and her voice sends shivers down my spine. I've know that her music changed and mellowed out drastically over her career (have yet to get through the full discography) but when did the vocals change to the more whiny sound?

I'm jealous... discovering Rid of Me is a great moment I wish I could return to hahah. Incredible album... songwriting, musicianship, recording quality. You're right about the vocals on that album, absolutely incredible.

She's been using this kind of falsetto vocal style on Let England Shake and White Chalk. Prior to that her style between To Bring You My Love and Uh Huh Her has been a slightly more "refined" version of her Rid of Me vocals... still amazing. I think you'd likely enjoy anything prior to White Chalk.

Kuhb 02.18.2016 12:23 AM

Here's an example of a somewhat recent album (still more than 10 years ago... what the fuck happened?!?!) where she's still using full voice... more refined than Rid of Me certainly but still fantastic
