it's the same for me, but every time I go to a gig alone I get really nervous before and don't wanna go (if i *really* like the band/musician I am going anyway). most of the times I make new friends at the gig, but the times I spent a whole show alone kinda make me uncomfortable... Between bands I never know what to do except sit down somewhere and... have a drink and look around. and feel stupid.

last week i decided to go alone, I meet up with friends before the gig, but they didn't want to go in. But AGAIN, I made new friends at the gig and the night was fun. I am glad I went.

AND I got to hold Nate Young like a baby. That was weird. AAAH.

But you probably don't look stupid.

I don't think I've ever seen someone sitting alone and thought they looked stupid.

Yet, everytime I have sat alone, I too have felt stupid.

How stupid.

strange, I totally know how you guys feel about going to shows alone, but some of the very best gigs I have ever seen were when I went alone.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I have, and if I'm in the right mental state, it's fine. In fact, saw Sonic Youth alone and had a delightful time finding the sweet spot and just listening to one of my favorite bands and not a friend's editorial or whatever.

But I'm more often self-conscious, although I have reason to be. (I'm ugly and stupid and everyone hates me). Everyone else is being a pussy.

It's just the downtown between bands tht kill me.

Other than that. Who gives a fuck? Music is on so groove out!

Probably because of these people, I now and then think something along the lines of: "Who the fuck are these people? What do I care what they think? My few good qualities are better than their many mediocre ones. I'll take my literacy over your social life anytime. Go ahead and call me a loser. From you it's a compliment."

Not sure if this is confidence or just anger. Or the truth.

it doesn't matter. go and enjoy your show. people are trees.

Made a new friend :) he was on the 3s junkies page on FB and I decided to randomly post the arcade cabinet and this guy moved here from NYC a year ago and wasn't familiar with the scene :). Well now we have more competition for SF3! He like actually knows how to play too!! I'm so excited we've been having some good bouts and once the MK is fixed...then we will really have some serious showdowns

To pony, congrats! Ah to be young and so full of hope and unable to properly dwell on our inherent laundry list of failures and disappointment. Enjoy it. Sincerely. Passionately.. when your bills inevitably catch up to you you'll be cranky like the rest of us so do everything fun and new now. In that way not only will you discover the depth of who you are at your core being, but also have laid a foundation of fulfilling memories that will carry you through every rough patch of your future. When I was younger I went to every single show I could, 100s of them and when my old ass has to skip shows cuz I have to wotk I am consoled by my memories.. its also why I played in so many bands then, because now I dont have the time but at least I have the memories :)

Wednesday, my friend came back from ATL and we hit up the arcade. We drank, played some games an shit got hype...it's so muh fun getting drunk and playing on that beautiful machine. We whoop everyone's ass...

I'm also planning to get slightly drunk alone tonight yet my posts seem all the less interesting. I got drunk with friends last night which I rarely do Fridays and it was cool but meh.. Its my last weekend of summer before I hit the wall of work/part-time job/grad school for the next 5 months..

i went out for one drink (what a waste of calories!)
and just finished a 2 hour conversation on Skype, with a guy i fancy. but since i got drunk during the conversation, i started sending him pictures of guys i found to be good looking and at some point he just hung up

i am a pro at life

it's not even 3 am and none of my friends are out anymore

i am disappointed in the world

i actually went to one of my fav bars after posting here and i talked to a guy who's been hanging out there forever but we never talked and i thought he was very ... idk... weird, mean, pretentious. i sat down with friends who were deep in a conversation when i arrived and actually ignored me. "the guy" sat down in the sofa next to us and because i was drunk and angry because i felt ignored i joined him and turns out he is a pretty decent guy, he was really welcoming and interested in a conversation. we had a very good conversation about music and we're gonna hang out again next weekend! yay for new friends!!!

people in my fav bars are cool. that's what i learnt today. i am happy.
