Hmmm....wow...didn't think it'd spark a debate.

anyways...I was honestly never rough before I started dating her. I barely even watched hardcore porn. No joke....and the whole thing with demonrail was about when I posted some pictures of Japanese girls with blood/bruises/wounds on them. I remember he said something about fetishes with that or something and I thought it was aimed at me rather than just bringing up the topic....anyways....It was she that initiated it and it goes both ways really, we're both having fun. We're both very clear on what's cool and not cool. I respect her VERY much and she does the same.

thanks for yer concerns?

btw I blame tumblr porn.

My two cents, if a person, girl or guy, has visible injuries its moved beyond just kinky. Im not accusimg EVOL of anything btw, rather letting him know the line is thin and he should be very careful towhen tap dancing on it like the Temptations

people today are brainwashed to spend all the money they get. that is the problem. when they have a small emergency or an inconvenience or they just want something they can't afford, they borrow money from someone else.

they borrow from friends and fuck their friendships, they borrow from family and strain the relationships. they borrow from credit cards and get gouged with interest. they borrow from payday loans and get trapped into a downward spiral of debt. they borrow from title loans and lose their vehicles. they borrow from their home equity and get underwater and end up in the street.

borrowing money is the fucking pits.

borrowing money turns you from a worker into a slave.

when you have savings, you borrow from yourself. you owe nobody, nobody owns you or dictates where and how you can use your money. e.g., for some bank loans, the bank needs to approve your loan, tied to a purchase, they can repo, etc.

if you have savings you have choices. you are free to quit a job. you are free to try a business, or pursue education. you are free to say "no." you are free to move to another place. you are no longer hand-to-mouth, fearing that the boss might wake up with a swollen hemorrhoid and fire you on a whim. savings give you power.

saving is only a start though. the goal is to make money work for you, i.e., investing, which basically means: buying a business or a piece of a business. it's the only way to make good use of capitalism. the problem is, the poors are brainwashed into thinking that investing is beyond their means. too hard/too difficult/ too inaccessible. it's a class problem. so the poor blow their money in gambling, "collectibles," drugs, status symbols, and all manner of nonsense, and remain poor, waiting for a miserable social security check when they are old and broken.

if that could change, and the poors dared to save and invest, and didn't get conned in the process, it would amount to a massive social revolution. all businesses would be employee-owned. capitalism would stand up on its head.

the other thing is that as you get older you get more opportunities to make money. if you have the saving habit then it just kicks in and you can build a sizeable stash and get financial independence. everyone makes 8 bucks an hour at the start. as they acquire skills, they get to charge more. but you can't wait to make more money to change your habits-- change them from the start.

saving is a really good habit. it's only the first step but without it the rest doesn't happen.

to call it by a different name: saving is the ability to LIVE BELOW YOUR MEANS. which puts you on a much safer position than the ones who are waiting for the next paycheck to keep the lights on. it makes a MASSIVE difference in how you relate to money-- namely, it makes you the master instead of the other way around.

We're leaving the prairie. Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. Pass the gravy.

Two lonnnnng years in a small town (pop. 9,000) in the middle of nowhere (an hour's drive to the nearest metro area). We just signed a lease for a great little cottage close, but not too close, to campus in the town of my alma mater.

Nice. I will have to commute, but the trade-off is worth it.

by "the prairie" you mean "out in the sticks"? the sticks are nice! (but yeah, little entertainment if you don't keep busy).

HEY PORKS THOSE ARE GREAT!!!

gmku 04.08.2015 10:44 AM

This has been more than the sticks, in my opinion. It's a little town. All by its lonesome. Surrounded by farmland and farmland and farmland. It is pretty, it is peaceful, and it has its charm. But it is dead dull.

My "Location" under my avatar has not been accurate. However, it will be in a few months. Iowa City is a sweet little university town, and we are so glad to be taking up residence again. Whenever we do anything, movies, dining out, music, farmer's market, buying decent groceries, whatever, it's in Iowa City, which means we have to drive an hour. IC also has a fantastic library. Now we'll be living there. Yahoo.

!@#$%! 04.08.2015 10:48 AM

oooooh i see. i live in the way-out sticks. little town is 30 minutes away. city is 2+ hours.

i love it, but then again no city around here is really worth the bother-- we just go there to do chores.

gmku 04.08.2015 10:55 AM

We thought it would be good, and in a way, it has served my bride well, as she has had to hunker down and study for her grad classes. But we miss being able to walk out our door and walk, not drive, to all of the stuff we enjoy. Right now, whenever we want to do anything, instead of just spontaneously getting up and doing it, we have to go through a big decision process, because we have to think about the hour drive there and back. When we're in Iowa City, even a drive to some place isn't a big deal--5 or 10 minutes across town, basically.

!@#$%! 04.08.2015 11:09 AM

yeah walkability is a great thing when you want to go around town.

then thing with me is that

i just don't wanna go
out in the streets
no more

ha ha ha

gmku 04.08.2015 11:32 AM

Heh heh, yeah.

Thing is, though, I am giving up my walking work commute. The office is an easy 10- to 15-minute walk here. I'll now have to drive an hour both ways. My love will walk to work in I.C., however. We decided that I'll be the one to take the hit for the cause, which I'm fine with. It would scare me to death to think of her having to drive in the wintertime.

There is always a trade-off. No place is perfect. Time to stock up on the audio books.

a few weeks ago, a friend of mine told me about the time he thought one of his friends got beaten up by her boyfriend. She had weird bruises and they both acted very strange when he asked if something was going on. At some point the boyfriend said it was okay to tell him.
Apparently she was taking a shower and he came into the bathroom to take a shit and it was so smelly that she threw up in the shower, slipped on it and fell.

I love that story, I wish it was mine.
