Oneida
Im a massive fan of this band, and i havent seen them mentioned on here before. Whats everyone think?
I have only ever heard one album by them in its entirety, and that's Enemy Hogs. I can't remember how I got to know them (I suspect that i might have read a review on The Wire) but it's a good record. I haven't listened to them in aeons, what are they up to at the moment?

I think that may be the only one of theirs i havent got, they released Happy New Year last summer and thats the first one i heard. I imagine theyll be releasing something soon seeing as they seem to churn them out fairly regularly. I think i read their drummer was in that Boredoms 9million drummers thing recently as well, and the keyboard player is amazing. |
Thanks. Yeah, their keyboard player is really good, and he seems to dominate the overall sound on that record.
its pretty much a rhythm dominated band on all the albums, you can tell how theyve listened to Can and The Fall and stuff like that but changed it about and made it their own sound. Theyre no1 on my gig wishlist at the minute.

Did they ever play in London at all?
Is there stuff out on vinyl?
www.enemyhogs.com is the website
Im sure theres some vynil there. As for gigs in London there hasnt been that ive known of, hope they do one day though. |
They deffinitely have put out vinyl since i considered getting Happy New Year on vinyl last year. I saw them open for mission of burma back in january and they put on a really great show, their drummer is sick.

ho hum.
Thats my favorite song of theirs, hands down.
Anthem of the Moon is my favorite!
whoever gets my mixed tape will be getting some Oneida~ they put on a hell of a live show. I think that there were 5 people there.... ![]() |
I've only caught half their set once, good powerful rock...never got into the recorded stuff but never really listened to it that much. The drummer I think plays in Jah Division whose 12" I really like which doesn't sound anything like Oneida.

Alan Vega Meets Oneida Rockers Downtown ![]() ![]() Thanks to everyone who came out for the show, especially the performers, volunteers, and the Southpaw staff. We'll be back at ya soon with yet more in the way of free shows, so don't dance too far from your radios. In the meantime, here's Suicide performing the original version of "Rocket USA". The new Oneida LP is really great. It's weird, 'out there' and it rocks. Some SY fans must like this record!!!
here is a band that really havent grabbed me fully by the balls yet at all..they came close with the new one, its their best shot but they still just gave my sack a glancing blow.. yknow the one that kinda gives a dull pain for about 10-20 seconds? they are ok, acceptable but still havent really hit it home with me yet.......
Maybe one of the best bands of the decade... Each One Teach One and Secret Wars are great.
Yeah, they're really good.
Saw them live in Belfast on Friday, really, really good show. Their drummer's brilliant!
