Social Life

how is your socal life?, how often do you go out and see your friends?, if you see them everyday at school, college, or work do you see them at weekends too?

i think im quite antisocial, i see my college friends everyday so i dont ever see them on weekends, my other friends from back in school go out quite alot, to clubs and hang out at each others houses. My best friends completely ditched me when she met her current boyfriend, so now we never really see each other or spend any time together.
i'm always being invited to parties or to hang out on the weekends but i very rarely go. if i go to a party i usually end up just standing alone, being incredibly borred and wanting to go home. it hasent always been like this i used to go out every friday and saturday and get drunk and have fun with friends, but since leaving school i hardly ever go out with friends.
is this normal?

Yeah that sucks doesn't it, that why i only go to party's if i know there will be people i like i hate to have akward situations like that. I see my friends almost everyday so i can't really complain about that...

marleypumpkin 05.14.2006 10:11 AM

^, Same here. To be honest, I really don't have that much of a social life.
My idea of entertainment is going down to the golf course & playing a round by myself.

PunkerViolence 05.14.2006 10:13 AM

Ive been a lot like that before. I used to have a big circle of friends, we got stoned a lot. Then they decided to split us up, into the stoner, non stoner groups. Leaving me, and my other 2 buds by ourselves. During these 2 lonng wasted years, i became very antisocial. I used to practically live at my friends house and get stoned constantly....wasting money, wasting time (that couldve been used on being more academic at school) and just rotting away. I had no friends, except these 2 guys, who i called my friends. Sometimes it was so fucked up, that we'd be sitting there in silence, dark room, fuzzy little TV glairing away..... after a pathetic little row, smoking weed, hardly looking at eachother. And we'd still come out every single fucking day to get stoned, just because we'd all gotten into this disasterous habbit. So yeah, i still find it hard 2 socialise and fit in with people, even after 4 months of quitting....

I'm the same too although it's because all my friends have gone to uni and I don't meet new people too well. Being on the internet on a friday night and not out socialsing is pretty bad to be honest.

Nothing cataclysmic or life-altering has ever happened to me while I was out "living it up." I am comfortable in my occasional hermitic bouts.

depends on what you mean by "normal." no, it's not what most people do, but that's a good thing. ultimately you have to be who you are rather than who virtually everyone else on the planet expects you to be.

i went through a crisis similar to that when i was in high school, and i suppose it's ongoing to a degree. i've almost never been to a party of any kind, as i find them destructive and puerile, and i have only a handful of friends -- years ago that bothered me a great deal. i've since learned to come to terms with the fact that i'm just an introvert (and, to add insult to injury, a bizarre introvert), and that i probably never will have an adolescence/young adulthood like most people have. again, THAT'S OK. you only have to associate with friends to the extent to which you're comfortable. they're there for exactly that purpose -- because they're friends; they should be able to understand when you'd rather be alone.

plus a lot of people grow out of the "incessant partying" phase -- i just happened to never have one. maybe that's just happening to you, which is a sign you're growing up.

thats a good point, i never thought it was strange, i meen i see people everyday at college, isnt it okay not to see them again on weekends, my mum came in my room today and said she wanted me to make some plans with friends for next weekend, so that i wont be in the house alone again. im seeing the yeah yeah yeahs next weekend so i will see people then.

i've got two good freinds that i see outside of school. and a couple more that i don't see out of school. we hang out, play music, play videogames things of that sort

nomadicfollower 05.14.2006 10:31 AM

I've got two friends I really hang out with. They like to go to parties and I don't, so I usually don't hang out with them on the weekends.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 05.14.2006 10:51 AM

I generally can't stand people. They all turn out to be lying, backstabbing assholes.

I like to have a fun night with people every once-in-awhile, but I am generally very happy alone in my own little world.

Whenever I start feel lonely, I become surrounded by people and realize how much more I like being by myself.

Пятхъдесят Шест 05.14.2006 10:56 AM

I don't know, when I go to bars, I often feel the same way....bored and wanting to go home. Though it depends on the bar, and the people. Some places have people I have nothing in common with, and generally get sick of within a half hour. Then I get to thinking I'm only there because its supposed to be fun and cool. But shit, let me stay at home on a Friday doing something productive in my eyes, read, listen to music, whatever. I guess it can go either way.

I think its all relative to what you like to do...

luxinterior 05.14.2006 05:33 PM

High school is over for me now, but every day after school I would hang out with my friends (just in a certain hallway at school) for about an hour. The only "close" friends I have/had went to my school, but ranged from Freshmen to Seniors. Aside from that, I only see one of those friends regularly (every Friday night we go out), unless I purposefully make plans to hang out with more of them. I do prefer to be by myself, because my favorite activities either could not or should not be undertaken by more than one person. I don't need someone tagging along when I really just want to read or watch a movie. Even when I go to concerts, I would prefer to go alone, but usually end up taking one other person because I hate driving long distances.

porkmarras 05.14.2006 05:39 PM

I love my own company and that of others.Let's put it this way.

HaydenAsche 05.14.2006 05:39 PM

I hang out like every second I can. I don't do a whole lot. Sit around drink coffee, make movies, go to shows, and smoke cigars. Me and my friends getting together is pretty much just a bunch of kids making fun of terrible types of music and discussing inside jokes and the like. We are boring.

Needing a social life indicates a defect in personal character.

I do not have this problem.

Man, the way you talk annoys me sometimes....you do have some gd things to say, but i think u get a bit too big for your boots sometimes. Sorry, but as people are spilling their social problems, you come along and say the exact opposite, sounding like a pretencious snob at the same time. Yeah, that comment kinda bugged me.

Must ALL humor be painfully obvious?

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 05.14.2006 06:38 PM

I dont do much until the summer. A lot of people say im quiet but I m the most outspoken person I know.

Inhuman 05.14.2006 06:41 PM

My social life is often over dramatic. I have plenty of time to socialize, but my friends make big deals out of little things. My ex hung up on me because I was called in for work and I couldn't hang out with her. I know plenty of people, I'm happy with the quantity of people I'm usually with, but qualitywise it's unsatisfactory. I can trust few people.
