Holy crap.
Don't get me wrong... Battles' Mirrored kicks ass. Great album, lots of wicked, well-written tunes...
...but Leyendecker has got to be one of the worst things I have ever heard. It sounds like some shitty, forgotten boy bandfrom the mid-90s, who fired their lyricists, and decided to just do a song consisting of really annoying humming. Oh, and they couldn't actually sing, so they used effects or pitchshifters or whatever the hell Battles use... So yeah... great album... with one of the worst songs of all-time. |
bollocks
|
I disagree. Maybe it doesn't 'mesh' with the rest perfectly, but it sure as hell isn't one of the worst songs ever.
|
I really enjoy Leyendecker... The R'n'B-like drum rythm sounds fantastic with these high-pitched vocals, in my opinion
|
People talk too much about battles.

Yeah, they should stop battling about Battles :D Sorry for the crappy pun but that's what crossed my mind... |
yeah, one of the songs on that album that just doesn't work at all.
my reasons for disliking it are dissimiliar to yours, but the song just stinks. it is proof that battles aren't very good songwriters -- take away their amazing drummer, pristine production, and nice guitar lines and you realize, "wait, they're not actually good SONGWRITERS." and that's something that's important to me. said it once, say it again:SLEEPING PEOPLE. way better. |

i dont get that songwriting comment.. isnt that like saying Jesus wasnt really a good carpenter..take away the chairs legs and seat and your left with a backing that makes you say "wait..jesus isnt actually a good CARPENTER" :p |
i mean that their songs on mirrored don't have a good flow to them.
|
is it soon going to be the 'thing' to not dig battles because everyone is digging them?
i know i know, you like them, your say sayin |
They write good songs but don't necessarily have the album flow thing down. Don Cab still blows my mind in many more ways.
|
I really dig the ep's. Mirrored is, has been, and always will be flawed.
And Don Cab are AMAZING. |

Sleeping People and Battles have nothing in common, even if they're both classified in math rock. Sleeping People is math rock. Period. Now Battles is something more than just crazy rythms and crazy time signature, and that's why they're by far better in my opinion. Don't get me wrong I like Sleeping People but Mirrored is by far more creative and interesting (in my opinion at least) than Growing |
Quirky for the sake of it. Yawn.
|
Mirrored is perfect. I love every minute of it.
|
I must admit that I've played that record to a friend and she loved it so much she is now a fan. I don't have much time for them.
|
Mirrors isn't all that. Get B+C EP.
|
sleeping people and battles are pretty damn similiar, structurally and in their guitar lines and such. but battles has the alvin and the chipmunks.

what the heck does that even mean. |
