How verbally shocking/outrageous/heinous are you in person?

By this I mean that you don't try hard at all, it just ends in tatters as if by magic.

There's a poll in the poll section.

Tokolosh 04.11.2008 04:10 AM

Not at all. I try to be very careful with my words. Don't like to make people feel uncomfortable when I'm around. Big mouths are a turnoff.

Dead-Air 04.11.2008 04:28 AM

I don't think I'm much different on the net than in person, which is probably what the real underlying question is, eh?

_slavo_ 04.11.2008 04:29 AM

I swear a lot in my everyday language, but I do it in a very nonchalant, non-intimidating way. So, 20-40%.

jon boy 04.11.2008 04:30 AM

i dont like people who talk too much or try to be shocking all the time, its annoying. also people who seem to have no barrier between brain and mouth are equally annoying. i try to be as nice as possible.

sarramkrop 04.11.2008 04:32 AM

Hang on a sec, swearing or using foul language continuously and loudly isn't shocking, it's plain irritating.

I want to find out about the choice of subjects that you might happen to bring up in a conversation, that is possibly done by the quietest person on earth and still can make a few heads turn.

jon boy 04.11.2008 05:04 AM

i swear a lot in some company but i have to stifle it most of the time.

that one depends on the person, sometimes it can be awesome, sometimes unbearable.

mangajunky 04.11.2008 06:59 AM

All I have to do is start talking about work. I've ruined many a date by inappropriately going into graphic details. I think it's gotten me laid too.

atsonicpark 04.11.2008 07:02 AM

I'm very polite and quiet unless provoked. I'm only an asshole if the person REALLY deserves it -- and I have lots of patience. I dunno. 10% I guess.

sarramkrop 04.11.2008 07:02 AM

Yeah, it depends on the person. I have a friend who's an incessant talker and he is generally hilarious. Sometimes (usually when he's mashed) he can get a bit too much, though.

Savage Clone 04.11.2008 07:11 AM

Definitely depends on the company I keep. With some people I'm quite reserved, but with certain people we tend to egg each other on/outdo each other in offensiveness. I don't generally broadcast these conversations all over the shop, though.

Yeah, the girl i work with has no filter between brain and mouth, and babbles dull nonsensical twittery noises at any given opportunity. this other kid i know has some severe learning disability that means he literally says anything he thinks, a bit like tourettes but not as retarded, and he's a fairly witty and cynical guy so hilarity often ensues, it's not all jolly though, he's terrified of talking to people he doesn't know for fear of what might come out.

jon boy 04.11.2008 07:31 AM

i knew a guy who literally would blurt out all kinds of stuff without thought of the situation. we would be talking in the pub and he would suddenyl chirp up about his dead sister or when we where in a car with his dad he started goin gon about how his mum was a slut. big problems.

the ikara cult 04.11.2008 07:34 AM

I dont think im offensive at all. But then its up to other people isnt it. The most offensive people can be the ones who mind their language and talk offensively in a diplomatic way.

jon boy 04.11.2008 08:00 AM

i rarely say what i think/mean.

Alex's Trip 04.11.2008 08:29 AM

I say a lot of things that I think would get me into trouble, but they don't.

On St. Patricks day this girl in a Burka walked by and I said "You'd think she'd at least get a green one, Sheesh."

I'm also quite an arse to my friends, but they just laugh. I guess I won't complain though.

girlgun 04.11.2008 09:01 AM

i let the wife pick for me. he voted "am i intimidating you?" after struggling between 70 and 80-90%.

sometimes i can hear him saying in my head "this isn't the hilo!"

this isn't intentional. i think i have some sort of variant of tourette's.

floatingslowly 04.11.2008 09:22 AM

I may be weird, but I'm rarely, if ever, rude.

the one above me never stops!

Rob Instigator 04.11.2008 09:27 AM

I can't leave the house without getting in trouble.

I have a nagging mania which involves verbally crossing any line laid out before me.
