I hadn't really heard much of their stuff untill I bought their newest album. I couldn't even stand flipping past the second track.

I'd like to know how you people find this band to be...

I don't know, I guess I just can't find any appeal in high school party anthem music.

They're completely and 100% awful, worse than Paramor or whatever that stupidass band is called.

they are bad, but not as bad as paramore. paramore is def. the worst newer band i have heard in a long time.

I never had any interest in listening to them. I just saw one video on MTV2 i think (the bicycle one, or something like that) and it was shit.

I saw this lot at ATP in December 2006. I knew nowt about them, and they were well enjoyable and energetic. They were better than the goddamn Stooges, for crying out loud.

I downloaded their album and listened to it once and never thought about it again to bother erasing it... until now.

their eps, released before the first album, are good. otherwise they're total shithouse and the most shambolic live act i've ever witnessed.

I think BYOP are great and one of the best live acts I've seen recently. The reason everyone has a stick up their arse about this band is because they can't stand to see a happy, mindlessly derivative yet rocking band enjoying some popularity.

I will admit that a few tracks on the new album suck a lot of balls, but that's no reason to class them as 'worse than Paramore'. The entire first album and at least one of their summer EPs were fantastic.

i like the first album a lot, it was probably my summer album two years ago. and i like it because it's so much fun.

the new one, it's very very ok, and one too many times sounds a lot like paramore with like crazy lyrics. but yeah, better than magik markers at least.

I think they just do pop-rock, it's not that they will change your life or anything, the best you can ask is to be entertained a bit.
They can be fun, and some songs are really good.
Some others are average, but, hey, I wish I had that much fun on stage when I was as young as they are.
They don't suck, they are just not much interesting if you are in need of something different from pop-rock... in their "genre" I think they're actually pretty good.

The perverse joy that I get reading through these threads is the fact that the first post declares a band shit, and sometimes by the third or fourth one someone might appear and make a comment similar to the one Toilet & Bowels made, which will often cause the majority of the rest of the people posting on said thread mitigating their attack on the band and even admitting to liking some of their songs. Anyway, BYOP: never heard a single tune by them.

i've been thinking about it.

in this day and age, we are used to find music that is mindblowing and if it's not, it's considered shit even if it's really good but not fucking amazing. it's so weird.

kinda like all those health threads, they are an ok band that's not too original and most people were like "they are the best" or "they are not good", completely polarized.
