lil wayne-the carter 3
i know most people could probably give two shits about lil wayne, but i think the guy is fucking amazing. the only mainstream rapper worth a shit, and one of the best rappers around period. after a slew of amazing mixtapes, collaborations, singles, and everything else besides a full length, weezy finally released 'the carter 3'. i was convinced that this album was destined to dissapoint. but guess what, i was damn wrong. its the best body of work hes ever released. the beats are real awesome, from radio ready club bangers to psychedelic wierdness. lyrics-wise hes taken it to another level. hes on some serious free form ghostface madman shit this time. tons of great catchphrases, metaphors, stories, personal reflections, and the usual coke/money/sex/sports shtick. if anyone is into rap they need to at least give this a shot.

all i know is he likes to drink cough syrup so he's aight in my book.
haven't heard da carter III but i like "lollipop".
i'm not the biggest weezy f baby fan by any means. some of his stuff is alright but i think he's over rated. i haven't heard the album yet but i can tell you that is one of teh worst album covers ever. looks like he made that shit at home w/ photoshop. and ghostface he will never be.
its a photo of him when he was a kid
Wayne is a grade A douche, but the music is good stuff, especially in today's rap climate... : /
oh is that fucking lollipop song HIM?
yeah. this shawty DON'T wanna thug. |
fuck this album, i bought it based on all the hype, talk about a weak fuckin record

oh i know. but the shitty adding of the tattoos and... PINKY RING?!?!?! c'mon that is a terrible fucking job. |
When is he gonna come outta the closet? Seriously.
hes one of the most rawly talented rapper anywhere, you guys are talkin shit on him about one song, his record cover, and his potential homosexuality, jesus christ.

part of the LGBT community or not, album is still weak as fuck |
Tha carter II was genious. Out of all the songs I heard off tha carter III, it doesn't seem to match up with II. I do like A Millie though, that was pretty solid and over 12 people covered it already
he's rubbish and the only reason anyone pays attention to him is because hiphop is in such a bad state these days
I'm with +101+ niggas, we +dalmation doggy+ b (yess)
And fly with the tongue, so if you feeling froggy leap (come on) Kermit, you better think before you ribbit Don't get murdered over your song, before you ad-lib it I pop up like +Xzibit+, but given I'm at your crib it's (yeah) Not to put no fucking fish tanks in your Civic (nah) Fuck getting your +ride pimped+, you'll get hog-tied wimp Have you in the trunk curled up like fried shrimp (ha ha ha) It's been a good year, maybe I should ride blimp (what you think?) 'Cause your boy just stay above the game They trying to tag him, spray a brother frame But your shots can't reach me, I'm way above your aim Go 'head nigga, say another name (go 'head, go 'head) Take this family for a joke, play them +Wayan brother+ games And +Ima Git You Sucka+, I be schemin' with this +Keenan+ (that's right) Aimin with this +Damon+ , I'm putting that +Major Payne+ in My lil' man is on ya, +Marlon and Shawn+ ya (yeah) Lay the beef on his noodle, make some Luger lesagne (whoo!) 40. Cal fettuccine, trey pound pasta You reach for this medallion, you must like Italian nigga You only see me pushing if the driver's tired (yess) I work the S6 ever since the 5 retired (yess) The drop top, they say it's +Ocean Drive+ inspired So you can +Call A Cab+, once your bitch falls for Fab i love his hyperarticulate unintelligible wierdo lyrics like those. holy shit, i didnt think id ever use the words unintelligible and articulate in the same sentence together. anyways, a lot of his rhymes on this record remind me of ghostface circa 'supreme clientele'. all these phrases that are inaudible, and ridiculously hard to understand, but after a few listens, you start to hear a narrative in the gibberish. obviously hes no ghostface (nobody is, thats why hes the best), but the fact that hes competing is still testament to his skills. and cmon, hip hop aint that bad these days. the wu tang is still going strong, stones throw, def jux, three 6 mafia, clipse, devin the dude and all those weed friend southern wierdos, theres plenty of good hip hop coming out, its just harder to find these days. its not like 94 when you could turn on the radio and hear biggie, the wu, nas, bone thugs, snoop, potentially all in a row. its out there, you just have to no what labels, artists, etc.. same as pretty much all music these days, you gotta search to find the good stuff. |
yeah, i enjoy this record. lil wayne owns
the only full lenght weezy album i've heard it the drought mixtape of last year which i think it's great even if it's too long and tiring.
i'm not saying he's not a good rapper batreleaser, i just dont' think he's as good as everyone else does.
Best mainstream rap album since graduation
