most of my favorite shoegaze-like songs don't come from shoegaze bands. Like Dinosaur Jr's No Bones, Yo La Tengo's Cherry Chapstick, Polvo's Vibracobra. All dense guitar songs.

I dunno...I've always hated the word shoegaze, and so much of the music that is too happy to ghettoize itself as such just plain sucks to me.

I agree. I wish people would relax on all these subgenres. Many of which don't even exist

I just realised that most of my favourite shoegaze songs are my bloody valentine.

i was going to make a list, but as soon as i put a mbv song on it, i put another one, then i put a third one and then i tried to put some other shoegaze songs but nothing even compared to mbv.

seriously, we need an mbv-less shoegaze thread because as soon as i think of them, i forget about everything.

my shoegaze fandom is not unique, meaning its one of the few scenes/genres that the bands hailed as the best (aka, mbv-1, jamc-2, etc..) by the press (pitchfork, nme, spin, whatever lame indie wannabe mag) are actualy my favorites.
