The Iron Maiden are Just Brilliant Aren't They, Thread.

Say nice things about Iron Maiden here. I dunno, post good photos of them, youtube links and generally give them major props. You know the way it goes.

"Where Eagles Dare" is really good. Then again, all of their 80's albums are pretty great.

Everyneurotic 06.26.2008 07:15 PM

yeah, they are good, but in all honesty, i'm sick of them. one of the few bands i have been listening since i was like 9 years old that i wouldn't mind not listening to ever again.

but powerslave is my favorite although di'anno > dickinson (vocalwise) and the early years dvd set is marvelous.

and furthermore:

me ten years ago: maiden > priest
me nowadays: maiden < priest

ps: if i'm drunk, don't ever get "run to the hills" near me because i start singing it in a piercing falsetto.

That about sums it up really. Deep down you just know they're cooler than any other band could hope to be.

Galluping Steve Harris supposedly has a full size football pitch in his garden and has regular sunday matches with friends and neighbours. By all accounts he's pretty good and had to make a decision whether to turn pro or carry on with the band.

You just have to love em more and more really.

He started the thread when he was drunk. He doesn't really mean it.

demonrail666 06.26.2008 08:38 PM

He's right. I meant to say the silver jews, but the merlot got the better of me.

Shit, I'm still pissed as a fuck. why am i still posting. i need to watch porn and then go to sleep or something.

acousticrock87 06.26.2008 08:46 PM

So you were publically analyzing your drunken mindset while drunk? That's awesome.

jetengine 06.26.2008 10:16 PM

Their self-titled debut is still their best. It owes a hell of a lot to classic Detroit rock (Stooges, Alice Cooper, MC5).

demonrail666 06.26.2008 10:18 PM

Have never really thought of it like that. Interesting. I'll listen to it again with fresh ears.

I know! I love that one.
Well I only have the debut and Edward the Great but still.. XD

What is the blaze bailey stuff like?

Everyneurotic 06.26.2008 11:29 PM

the blaze bailey stuff? like boring shit.

i had the misfortune of seeing them on that tour and it was like, started good, then it was like an hour of solid boredom and then 30 minutes of classics.

some songs are ok, in the fear of the dark songs that are good way, but the bulk of it is 7 minutes a piece of going nowhere slow.
