It was hard to get a good feel for the new songs. They were a far departure from Rather Ripped. I wish I had the foresight to record the new ones, but I was too much in awe of SY! =) |
were they long songs? short? more experimental? song oriented? and who sang them?
|
oooh it's all daydream stuff mostly!

How great was that show?? I was there w/ my wife about 5 feet from the stage right in front of Kim. Expressway was amazing. Would love to see some video/pix. My camera phone photos came out very fuzzy. I feel sorry for all of the people who didn't wear earplugs.

Yeah, I didn't wear earplugs and I'm feeling a little muffly today. Also tired. I had to be at work at 7am, but it was well worth it. I've seen SY before but never that close up. I'm still reeling. |
i went to the show. thanks to the really cool guy who hooked me up with the spare ticket.
the venue was pretty awesome. first time ive been there. i got there late so i went up to the balcony and ended up standing next to Lee watching the Hold Steady play. I finally got to meet him. he was in a rush afterwards but Lee is definitely one cool guy. The new songs are fucking awesome. they remind me of psychic hearts-type rock songs but Lee was really tearing it up. I absolutely loved how aggresive the songs sound. seriously, the next album is going to save my fucking life. i need it. i can only imagine how amazing these songs are going to sound when they're recorded. i was actually surprised by how much daydream stuff they played. i thought that was cool but i was hoping more of their other stuff (i saw them at the ddn tour). jams run free was seriously top notch. i hated how i wasn't really around people who were dancing because that song is just amazing. people should fucking dance to it! steve shelly blows my mind everytime i see him. and Kim. |
Thanks dude, thats awesome to hear about the new songs!
|
any new titles given? or just no names?
|
fuck me i'm blind.
-mars & no way. |
Set list is an almost exact copy of the Battery Park show. Except they added the new somes and took out She is not alone, Skip Tracer and The world runs Red.

This is seriously good news! I'm not a RR hater, but I'd be bummed if they didn't do something with more of an edge on the next album. The idea of songs that remind one of Psychic Hearts with Lee rocking it added to the mix is definitely encouraging, especially since the album most like that is Washing Machine! |
The new songs are fantastic. Like someone else said they seem to be a departure from RR. And I'm pretty sure Kim sang "No Way" or they both did.
The guy who was with his wife, I think I was right next to you. Was she next to the little boy? I was right behind him.. perfect spots. |
great. I wonder if somebody recorded it.
|
New songs!!!!!!
