So, I saw Dinosaur Jr. 2 nights ago...
...and my right ear has not stopped ringing since.
I had never seen them live before and didn't truly believe that they would be as loud as they were hyped to be. The venue was in the middle of a strip mall, and was a little too clean for my liking. But my girlfriend was able to buy beers with her fake i.d., so the cleanliness of the joint stopped bothering me, quite quickly. They opened up with Bulbs of Passion, did not play anything from their new album, and closed with an encore consisting of Freak Scene and Just Like Heaven (which they hilariously stopped before the end). I also got a free 7" vinyl for ordering my tickets online! PICS UP SOON? |

Shit. I really regret not going to this show.

Yes, you do, and will for years to come. I'll being Dino on the 26th, looking forward to being deafened |
They're playing my town this week or next??? My friends and I still haven't purchased tickets cuz we're poor. I wanna go tho :(
|
I really hope they come to Las Vegas sometime this year. They only played here once years ago, in November 2004 I believe and at the time I was just starting to get into them so passed at the chance.
Farm is going to be awesome, I can't wait for that record to come out. ~Jeremy~ |
I think I lost a fraction of my hearing the first time I saw them when they were touring their reunion.
I don't mind it. The show ruled. |
I couldn't hear for about a day and a half after I saw them. The worst part was after the show when my friend and I were in the train station and he was all, "the only worse thing that can happen now is a dude playing a bagpipe." Then five seconds later...a dude playing a bagpipe. I've never had a bigger earache in my life.
It was worth it, though. |

Glad it was a great gig, anyway. (offtopic: this guy across the street from me plays bagpipes! in spring/summer, he plays outside... almost nonstop.) |
how could you miss dinosaur jr. playing in a strip mall?!
|
aaaaah! i know, right? the absurdity of skipping this show just keeps on wracking up. s'not like i was up to anything worth missing dino jr. for, either. girl talk (the actual action of, not the hipsternationally adore'd song restylings of) with my ~bffz~
i should have just been like, "yr boy troubles are on the backburner for now. let's go to east lansing! what you are about to experience is revenge for nearly two decades of exposure to yr misguided musical taste." ... shit. sorry if i'm, like, derailing the thread with this nonsense. heh. |
Dinosaur Jr is the cure for those problems for at least 3 days because neither of you would have been able to hear properly.
|
the Dino are LOUD AS FUCK. I can tell. Walls of amps. Only a couple of amps switched on though.he.
|
earplugs... for fuck's sake!
|
next time I see them will be earplugs for sure.
seen em three times. shit was so loud I felt it in my asshole |
save those ear plugs for your next jack johnson concert

Saw Dino last week. I was surprised that they didn't play anything from their new album. They were awesome though. And yeah... loud.

that's how 'just like heaven' ends on the studio version too. |
last time i saw them j hd him amp turned up way too loud and his mic too low, yup i got myself an instrumental dino jr. set and boy did it suck! it really sounded like a band in a mid life crisis. man, its wierd, they were one of my favorite bands UNTILL the reunion. I was psyhed for th reunion too, but it just seems all too insincere at this point with the headlining show and the shitty new records etc... I wish all SST bands that broke up in the 80s preserved the testament of the label's aesthetic and stayed broke up.
