the album version is a bit too techno sounding to me.. I like the piano version. I was inspired to post this thread initially after atsonicpark's comment about everlong and then I was watching Sarah McLaughlin Austin City Limits on tv a few minutes ago.. I was thinking damn that woman is fine, she must be going on or in her forties ?!

posting this thread has taken me so far down a nostalgia trip.. like Ziggy said "Joy and Blues"

these are the kinds of songs which can evoke in me a mutual feeling of both intense joy and overwhelming sadness.. quite a weird blend. I guess that is theme of this thread, songs that are both joyful and saddening at the same time for whatever reasons, the lyrics, the music, the time in your life you listened to it or all of the above..

I totally get what you mean about feeling both those emotions at the same time and I love songs like that. As for the song version, I usually hate techno.... soo much.. but I like the way it sounds with her voice. And yeah, she's hot as hell, especially when she was younger. Although hot might not be the right word.. beautiful I guess.

Stooges "Dirt" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxYXV2RrwIs
"Gimme Danger" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9_hegaKOaY

Hole "Garbadge Man" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luliNnzwk5s
the whole reason I like this band in the first place

Nymphs "Imitating Angels" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwtFZ...eature=related

Nirvana "Something In the Way" electric version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu1x2uzm4sQ
This makes me wonder how awesome Nevermind could have been if it wasn't so overproduced

"Knocking on Heaven's Door" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-5JvACzGp8
Hell, even Guns n Roses couldn't totally ruin this song

Lost in Tokyo "Don't Fall Asleep" myspace.com/lostintokyo
This band I found on garageband.com a long time ago... this one song is so good

PJ Harvey "White Chalk" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrCQbrFCQ1I

Alice In Chains "Nutshell" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_GPxe91hWE
I never really listen to this band anymore, but this song is really, really great. Even though the lyrics aren't spectacular and all that other stuff, it still really hits me.

Ednaswap "Torn" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLtDBlgDOwk
Everyone's heard the cover
