Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978 film). It's a movie you shouldn't watch when you're a kid. Watching it now as an adult I can see the movie is an allegory of America's pathological paranoia over Communism.

!@#$%! 10.04.2009 06:30 AM

rosemarys baby within the classic horror genre

otherwise

IDIOCRACY

pbradley 10.04.2009 07:28 AM

I have no fucking clue.

But The Exorcist was the first movie to give me nightmares.

I generally don't watch films that I know will scare the crap out of me/gross me out so much that I can't watch. Waste of my time, I don't enjoy it at all.

meh.

Jaws (when I was a child at least, now I don't think the film is that good - the fake plastic-like shark is particularly ridiculous...)

fugazifan 10.04.2009 08:12 AM

definitely not the scariest, but henry portrait of a serial killer might be the most disturbing movie that ive seen

gmku 10.04.2009 10:24 AM

I find it's hard to say what's the scariest because for me they're only scariest the first time I see them. Subsequent views they're just sort of scary, the experience isn't the same. Personally, I find Cabaret chilling no matter how many times I watch it because of the way the movie shows Nazism insidiously creeping into daily life. The Pianist, for similar reason.

Other candidates: The Shining, Rosemary's Baby, Eyes Wide Shut, Vertigo, Eraserhead, The Conversation (that hotel room scene with the toilet backing up blood!).

The whole movie was ok not that high on the horror scale but when Carrie reach up to pull Susie down to hell with her it hard to say who squeezed who's hand harder my date or me

the big quasar 10.04.2009 11:12 AM

The Exorcist

atsonicpark 10.04.2009 11:58 AM

Oh, if you want to talk most disturbing...

cars_willkillyou 10.04.2009 12:16 PM

invasion of the bodysnatchers was awesome. good call.

atsonicpark 10.04.2009 12:16 PM

I find all of Sato's films extremely ... unsettling.
