Jesu
Shit, I've got the 'Conqueror' CD, and I've completely fell for the thing.
It's so Slowdive/Ride/Anathema/post-everything I used to love like 10 years ago. Neat stuff, what do you say? |
i've heard only Silver (ep) and it's quite nice, especially "Star".

just listened to conquerer and its great. damn talented person mr jesu. cant remember his name at the mo.. justin something?
|
Yeah, Jesu is pretty heavy shit.
I only have the s/t but really like it ![]() EDIT: post #666 , my diabolic post |
So far I've only listened to their s/t album and the Silver ep. While s/t is a very ineresting record the ep is a let down, at least for me; I enjoyed only the final track.
|
Jesu on CD is magnificent, but Jesu live was probably my most boring show of 2006.

oh, was it, really? I was just a while ago thinking about what it should sound like in a live gig. |
The sound was just like it is on record, as only the guitar and drums are live, the rest is all pre-programmed. That was what made it so boring.
|
intresting sonicl. im not really suprised tho!
|
![]() his name is JUSTIN K BROADRICK. and dude is a genius. i predicted that conqueror would be a cross between the sonic excesses of the s/t and the songwriting aspects of silver ep (which i wasn't terribly fnd of but liked it anyway). i'm yet to listen to it, but if i'm correct, i would be very happy. also, check out his laptop drone project final, it's sort of like the jesu sonics as if played by fennesz, pretty cool shit. |
Oh, I'd love to check out that "final" project...If it's nearly as good as Conqueror, it's gonna be a must for me.
|
final is very different in approach, it has almost zero rock in it; it's kinda like ambient showgazer, justin himself has said that it's very much like fennesz and shit on the mego label; it's cool, but not groundbreaking like jesu or godflesh or napalm.
so i have heard conqueror and, while justin indeed incorporates more of the melody and is more secured about his (melodic) voice than on godflesh and the s/t jesu album, it's not the cross between s/t and silver as i expected. i like that they chose to evolve rather than force something (as opposed to the silver ep) into their sound, anyway, it hasn't sinked yet but sounds mighty great and a fine succesor to their discography so far. |
godflesh were better.
and conqeuerors is probably his worst in jesu, which is funny, because it's still fucking awesome. prefer silver and heartache. |
Last few ep's/splits (and that rarities comp) have ranged from terrible to passable. I don't think I'm going to bother with this band anymore.
Good production, but the songwriting is quite shitty and samey lately. |
yes jesu is very good. sometimes they remind me of killing joke.
|
never bought any Jesu because I was afraid they would be boring fucking MUZAK like SUNN and EARTH
|
Don't be dissing Earth!
|
I got two Earth records, and they both sound like someone put a microphone next to a tumbling dryer, and ran it thropugh distortion.
I never thought I would see the day whne there was skronk-ZAK (skronk + muzak) but that day is here. a pox on all background muzak! |
hmm.
