after a decade's retreat, god's pee has decided to roll again.

we are, as always, stoked, stubborn and petrified.

between now and the live-dates, there'll be rivers of noise and distraction. and the internet is a petty tyrannical monster. please remember that really all that matters is the keep on keeping on. and all that really matters is the shows. and physical engagement in the world. and folks like us and folks like you. thanks for understanding, and thank you for still listening.

see you next winter.

The Nightmare Before Christmas curated by
GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR, 3rd - 5th December 2010

To conclude our yearlong celebrations of 10 Years of ATP, we are thrilled to be able to announce GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR as curators of our Weekend 1 Nightmare Before Christmas festival this December.

ATP Founder Barry Hogan: "Godspeed performed at the Bowlie Weekender as well as at some of our early ATP festivals, and so we are very proud to have one of our favourite bands back after a long break to conclude our 10th anniversary along with Bowlie 2."

The festival weekend will run from the 3rd-5th December at Butlins Holiday Centre, Minehead featuring around 40 bands picked by Godspeed You! Black Emperor, who will also perform.

TheFoxBen 04.08.2010 07:20 PM

WTF dude, are Godspeed reuniting or what ?

gambra 04.08.2010 07:22 PM

http://www.1119732.net/

Yes, they are. How else would they curate a festival?

TheFoxBen 04.08.2010 07:27 PM

Unbelievable.

stu666 04.09.2010 01:36 AM

yes and Bardo Pond, Deerhoof, The Ex and Mike Watt will be there. i'm not going to rush into buying tickets for this mainly because i can't afford it right now but i would like to go.

atsonicpark 04.09.2010 01:44 AM

brilliant

_slavo_ 04.09.2010 03:03 AM

sounds good. i don't know how my budget will be drained after the summer Korea/Japan combo, but it might be nice to go there

The Earl Of Slander 04.09.2010 05:31 AM

Man, this looks hugely fucking tempting. Will have to see how money is after Primavera...

EvdWee 04.09.2010 07:07 AM

tickets booked!

looks like a group of 21 people is coming from the Netherlands!

stu666 04.16.2010 11:48 AM

The latest line-up additions are:

NEUROSIS
THE DEAD C
BLACK DICE
FRANCISCO LOPEZ

Toilet & Bowels 04.16.2010 05:58 PM

i never thought i'd see francisco lopez at atp. the dead c and bardo pond is enough to keep me happy for the whole weekend.

HaydenAsche 04.16.2010 06:04 PM

I'm going to do my best to able to afford ATP this year. Too many festivals between now and then, though. Not sure if I'll be able to afford it.

SYRFox 04.16.2010 06:28 PM

I might be there. I might. That Black Dice addition got me raging like mad

see you there then? :D

The Earl Of Slander 04.18.2010 05:33 PM

Hmmm. It'll come down to money. God, so torn.

pokkeherrie 04.19.2010 06:48 AM

I honestly had no idea that GY-exclamation-mark-somewhere-in-here-BE had broken up for all these years (not kidding). I surely hadn't missed them.

Thought I'd be able to skip this year, but now that The Dead C have been announced I'll probably have to go, unless they're playing in Holland as well (I think they were planning a european tour this year?)... but even then I'd still want to go to both shows, plus the inevitable London gig before/after.

pokkeherrie 04.23.2010 09:39 AM

some more additions:

WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM
MARISSA NADLER
GROWING
RANGDA (featuring Richard Bishop, Ben Chasny, Chris Corsano)

Rangda and WITTR are nice, but already touring before ATP anyway. I'm hoping for more exclusive stuff like The Dead C and Bardo Pond.

GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR / NEUROSIS / BARDO POND / THE EX / DEERHOOF / THE DEAD C / BLACK DICE / FRANCISCO LOPEZ / TIM HECKER / MIKE WATT / SCOUT NIBLETT / WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM / MARISSA NADLER / GROWING / RANGDA

Anyone know if these GY-exclamation-mark-somewhere-BE-people like hip-hop or doom?

stu666 04.23.2010 10:41 AM

it's getting better and better

EDIT: how come i've never heard of Rangda before they sound too good to be true.

Hmmm, I knew that, but somehow didn't notice when I pasted those dates.

By the way, the Hasselt date is with Keiji Haino!

Phlegmscope 04.24.2010 08:27 AM

A couple of friends of mine who are pretty massive fans of gy!be are possibly going, which means I might have to consider joining their group. Personally, gybe doesn't move me in any way, as I've never really bothered to hear them, but Bardo Pond and Dead C are the kind of stuff I probably should try to see at least once in my lifetime.

One thing that's a bummer with festival like this is the fact that it's already sold out by the time I know if I'm able to go.

pokkeherrie 06.02.2010 09:00 AM

_slavo_ 06.02.2010 10:27 AM

DanielCarlson 06.02.2010 10:44 AM

This line-up is just too fucking good.

pokkeherrie 06.03.2010 11:05 AM

New additions:

Thursday June 3, 2010
We have a very diverse set of line-up additions for the GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR curated Weekend 1, Nightmare Before Christmas festival this December. Heading up the additions is the legendary "WEIRD AL" YANKOVIC, the biggest selling comedy recording artist of all time; selling more than 12 million albums, winning around 30 Gold and Platinum album awards and three Grammy Awards. This will be the first time he has ever performed in Europe, and his show will feature video screens and numerous costume changes! Here's the full list of new additions:

"WEIRD AL" YANKOVIC
NOMEANSNO
JOSEPHINE FOSTER (solo)
WHITE MAGIC
EMERALDS
BOBAN I MARKO MARKOVIC ORCHESTRA
DANIEL HIGGS (Lungfish)
Which means that the current line-up looks like this:

GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR / "WEIRD AL" YANKOVIC / NEUROSIS / BARDO POND / THE EX / DEERHOOF / THE DEAD C / BLACK DICE / FRANCISCO LOPEZ / TIM HECKER / MIKE WATT / SCOUT NIBLETT / WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM / MARISSA NADLER / GROWING / RANGDA / NOMEANSNO / JOSEPHINE FOSTER (SOLO) / WHITE MAGIC / EMERALDS / DANIEL HIGGS (LUNGFISH) / BOBAN I MARKO MARKOVIC ORCHESTRA

With far more to be confirmed! The festival weekend will run from the 3rd-5th December at Butlins Holiday Centre, Minehead featuring around 40 bands picked by Godspeed You! Black Emperor, who will also perform.
Tickets are priced at £165.00pp for room only and £175.00pp for self catering and are on sale now from www.atpfestival.com

Two, Three and Seven Berth Apartments are now completely Sold Out and other ticket options are selling fast.

I'd be interested in seeing Boban Markovic. So far it looks like it's going to be a pretty diverse line-up.
