marleypumpkin 04.10.2006 09:51 PM

sonikold 04.11.2006 11:34 AM

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of later Yes stuff, but I can't get enought of their early shit. Well, just let me know what you thought of them. I tried uploading that live Yes, but my computer is old, & has shitty little kinks to it.

Unmade Bed 04.11.2006 10:19 PM

I'm on my way to upload a new show, this time Roger Waters "Goodbye Mr. Pink Floyd" featuring old Pink floyd songs and some Waters songs...
just give a few hours :)

marleypumpkin 04.13.2006 08:45 PM

Damn You! You make me jealous.

fugazifan 02.23.2008 03:34 PM

mega bump!
just wanted to sy that i have been on a mega prog trip recently.
been listening to a lot of yes (some stuff is awesome some less so.)
roundabout is a fantastic song
i have also been on a major rush kick.
my younger brother is obsessed with them and i have known them for years, but i just burned a pile of their albums and am loving it.
2112
moving pictures
farewell to kings are all amazing albums.
unfortunatly i think that their new stuff is crap.
but they used to write amazing things-if only geddy lee would sing a little bit less

uhler 02.23.2008 03:45 PM

rush are fucking amazing. i had almost all of rush's records on vinyl from 1974-1987 (only missing two. but then a flood hit my house and i was only left with one of their shitty records, i also lost over 200 other records). 2112 is one of my favorite records.

pbradley 02.23.2008 03:58 PM

My brother is more into prog than I am. I really only dig early King Crimson.

PAULYBEE2656 02.23.2008 04:30 PM

Savage Clone 02.23.2008 04:36 PM

^I think that's our keyboard player.

Everyneurotic 02.23.2008 09:09 PM

yes rules!!! that said, i don't like the production in most of their albums, and much prefer their bootlegs.

by the way, it's 70's yes, after 1979, may gawd have mercy on their souls.

atsonicpark 02.24.2008 10:37 AM

if you want to hear the absolute best progressive band, check out thinking plague...

Lamont Cranston 02.24.2008 06:01 PM

Early-Mid 70s King Crimson is where it is at.
Bill Bruford, David Cross, Robert Fripp, John Wetton.
Live these guys would blow your mind.

batreleaser 02.24.2008 11:19 PM

i have never been into progressive rock at all. however, if u wanna consider krautrock progressive (i dont but whatever) i love many of those bands (espceially can, neu, faust, amon duul, and kraftwerk), i also dig queen, well bohemian rhapsody, and oddly i dont like rush but i love rush-live in rio. i like pink floyd before they went prog (basically dark side of the moon and beyond) and ive always been bored by king crimson. dream theater makes me wana puke. so yes, i dont like progressive rock, but i can see how some people, especially virtuosic musicians, would dig it. i guess i get turned off by it because i cant read music and have always just taught myself to play instruments (guitar, trumpet, and to a lesser extent, drums) by making sounds that i like and getting used to it.

atsonicpark 02.26.2008 02:32 PM

My favorite thing, and the most inspiring thing to me, is the newer King Crimson stuff where they have two guitarists each trading notes between the speakers for every song . I love that shit.

Lamont Cranston 03.01.2008 02:14 AM

Been doing that since 1981, so not exactly 'new' atsonicpark :p

Cantankerous 03.01.2008 02:36 AM

pink floyd BBC 1968

Florya 03.03.2008 03:41 PM

I grew up with Prog. I was at boarding school from the age of 10 to 15 from the late 60's to the early 70's. All of the sixth formers were really into their UK Prog records and a few stuck with me. Artists like Gentle Giant, Man, Wishbone Ash, Curved Air, Focus, Pete Brown & Piblokto, and Osibisa.

I'll upload a few of the records I grew up with.

First - Gentle Giant - Three Friends

Second - Wishbone Ash - Argus

The fact that Magma has not been mentioned in this thread only proves that none of you know what the fuck is up...
