Jesus And Mary Chain to reform ?

Why can't you delete the first post in a thread of your own making, if you decide that that thread was a mistake? I should have the authority to do so, I think.

jon boy 01.25.2007 01:13 PM

i know a kegmama who will be very pleased.

king_buzzo 01.25.2007 01:50 PM

i love this!

dazedcola 01.25.2007 03:00 PM

I'd only like it if they played material up to the quality of their first few records. I don't want some half-assed reunion album

sun city girl 01.25.2007 03:01 PM

JAMC are one of the greatest bands EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!1

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 01.25.2007 03:40 PM

Hopefully they'll tour.

Pookie 01.25.2007 05:20 PM

They split up for good reason. They were rubbish at the end.

As I posted in another thread recently, I saw them in 1985 and they were breathtaking, and in '96 they were dull.

Good luck to them though. I'm sure they need the money.

kingcoffee 01.25.2007 07:03 PM

They may have been a shadow of their former selves by the time the band split in 99, but I never got a chance to see them live, but now is mt chance, and I will take it!!! I dont care what people say about bands reuniting. If a band wants to reunite, thats their deal. I reap the benefits.

Toilet & Bowels 01.25.2007 08:20 PM

blablabla

Dead-Air 01.26.2007 12:20 AM

I love their old stuff, but their last 4 or 5 albums have been boring rehash. Frankly, I hadn't even noticed they broke up.

candymoan 01.26.2007 03:54 AM

i'm excessively playing the lottery these days..
once i hit the jackpot, it'll be "coachella, here i come..."

JAMC is one band i owe much to..
much like the pixies reunion, i hope they will hold off any new material for now.. and give the deserving fans something decent..
this is as exciting as it gets.....

compulsive diarrhea, jico 01.26.2007 10:12 AM

i'm expectant, not excited.

Trasher02 01.26.2007 10:27 AM

I'm looking forward to it but I hope they won't be rubbish.

sonic sphere 01.26.2007 11:09 AM

i have high hopes that it happens, i saw them on the munki tour in dublin and really enjoyed it

porkmarras 01.26.2007 11:19 AM

It's pointless but i suppose you have to make ends meet in some way or another.I hope they will do a John Cale when asked why they are reforming and turn to their interviewers saying:'' For the money and nothing else.''

Everyneurotic 01.26.2007 12:04 PM

if they come to mexico, i would go see them; i can't think of anything more idiotic than going to coachella so you like the rest of the idiots there try to get a whiff of their sound and a vague look at what their stage banner looks like, if they even have one.

reunions that could top j&mc by miles:

my bloody valentine
fushitsusha
galaxie 500
boredoms
spacemen 3
loop

that just off the top of my head.

ps: like we need yet another british band to talk about how cool they are.

sonicl 01.26.2007 12:21 PM

^
Everyneurotic talks sense, AGAIN.

But I'm slowly becoming more and more anti-reformations full stop. What's the point? It's like a band being a tribute act to their former selves. That goes even for the ones that Everyneurotic listed, all of whom I either saw, or would have loved to have seen, in their prime. But if they played those shows again now they'd just be going through the motions.

porkmarras 01.26.2007 12:26 PM

They only two bands out of those that i can remotely imagine re-forming and making good and interesting music would be Loop and Galaxie 500.

It seems to appear that fushitsusha haven't really properly disbanded (judging by the Haino thread) and i never knew that boredoms split up.

They're too musically creative to just rehash their old days, they'd create new and updated music.

EDIT - Has Everyneurotic logged off again? I was hanging around to join in the celebrations of his 5,000th post.

Exactly. They were too busy making good music to really be that bothered living the whole rock n roll lifestyle.

I mean, Hampton's experiments with Main alone would be enough to make a Loop reunion an interesting one.

How creative was the stuff that "the other guys from Loop" did as Hair and Skin Trading Company? Would they be able to keep up with Robert Hampson's ideas if they were to work with him again?

Hair and Skin Trading Company have always been good in my book but not as good or stimulating as Main's stuff .One of them now works with Pinkie McLure and i have faith that they are musicians of such impeccable taste and integrity,we wouldn't have to worry about them making a spectable of themselves. They wouldn't have to do that either because i doubt they'd make that much dough anyway.

some of that barbed wire kiss action.

sonicl 01.26.2007 12:44 PM

I was very excited at the thought of seeing the reformed Scientists last year, but I missed the show because of a migraine. Now that I think about it, I think I prefer just remembering how good they were when I saw them the first time round.

If I'm going to relive my youth I'd rather do it by going back in a time machine and shagging some of my teenage girlfriends.

Iain 01.26.2007 02:06 PM

Wow...I'm surprised so many people are foaming at the mouth about this.

1) Most reunions are shit
2) Jesus and Mary Chain are "quite good"

Therefore a reunion (reunions are shit remember) of a "quite good" band = very shit.

HECKLER SPRAY 01.26.2007 04:22 PM

Many people said JAMC reunion in the 90's was bullshit. How could it be better in 2007 ?

Sonic Youth 37 01.26.2007 08:28 PM

YAY!! I need to get tickets to Coachella. Any word on if Bobby will be with them? Or is this the most recent line-up?

GeneticKiss 01.27.2007 12:59 AM

Actually, I really liked some of the stuff from Munky..."I Hate Rock 'n' Roll" is one of my favorite songs.

Kegmama: the absolute LAST thing I'd want a reunited Mary Chain to do would be to make another Psychocandy...the whole 60s-pop-drenched-in-noise-and-feedback thing might have been revolutionary in 1986, but now, it's kinda old hat.

EyeballGrowth 01.27.2007 01:16 AM

Half you nitwits don't know jack about the J&MC

I think the saddest thing about JAMC in the 90's was how DULL they were. I hope for the sake of the people seeing them this time around, that the break has reignited some enthusiasm in them for their music. And given them a chance to resolve their differences.

JAMC was always essentially just the Reid brothers.

habibtheantiamericanbitch 01.27.2007 05:17 AM

Jamc....one of my all time favorites.....at least the first few records. They must be broke to be doing this because they lost the love for the music, the fans and each other at least 10 years ago. They will embarrassingly fumble thru 45 minutes of classics and Munki shit while trying not to Scottishly disassemble each other or whatever fan/roadie gives them the eye. Still, like that train wreck you can't turn away from, i'm still interested in hearing what they turn out. I wouldn't expect a tour or even much of anything off of Psychocandy, unfortunately. but who knows. i truly hope they make my entire post bullshit!!!

PAULYBEE2656 01.27.2007 07:23 AM

jamc were great and i am a loverof their work but i cant get excited about this reunion at all. i mean i just cant and im sorry....

>>>>>>>>>>

fuck that, i want them to make that music again, not the melodic twee indie hit appear on top of the pops drivel that they were bringing out in their dying years. jamc to m is about the 60s skronk noise with walls of fuzz, not melodic beautiful love songs........

psychocandy vs stoned and dethroned... i know which one goes on my turntable.................

I know that, but I was wondering if he would return. Seeing as he's the original drummer and his unique style (or lack thereof) complimented their music so well.

PAULYBEE2656 01.27.2007 12:42 PM

get bobby gillespe back in there and i will get slightly excited about it.....

Glice 01.27.2007 12:55 PM

Why this thread? Why can't someone start a Les Rallizes Denude re-forming thread? Surely that's what everyone wants?

Savage Clone 01.27.2007 12:57 PM

I was told by a big Rallizes fan that Mizutani "looks like walking zombie" these days. He's in pretty rough shape from what I can gather.

Toilet & Bowels 01.27.2007 01:01 PM

indeed i'm surprised that anyone cares a hoot about the J&MC in this day and age

Toilet & Bowels 01.27.2007 01:12 PM

yeah well i don't like grandeur very much though

I didn't even realise they'd split up. I'd always assumed they were a bit like the Fall, splitting up all the time. Sorry Mr Priest, just being bitchy for no decent reason. It's a Saturday thing.
