Mix Tapes Round 7

Yes, I know, you still haven't got your Round 6 tape yet (or Round 3 or 4, whatever), this is just a head start on Round 7, which I will coordinate. And this time they're coming to America!

Anyway, send a PM my way so I can give out my address, or just use your brute strength and hurl them in my direction.

Senders from the United States and Canada please include $2.
Senders from the United Kingdom please include £2.
Senders from mainland Europe should include €3.
Senders from Australia need to send $3.
Senders from some place else should ask in a PM how much to send.

The deadline is set for March 2nd.

noumenal 02.03.2007 06:07 PM

U S A! U S A! U S A!

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.03.2007 06:12 PM

Yeah, something along the lines of that.

Count me in for this one!

The person who can win a karaoke tournament will have dibs on Round 8.

Danny Himself 02.04.2007 02:15 PM

Nah, let's have a stand-up competition.

So, uh, hey! Knock Knock?

porkmarras 02.04.2007 02:38 PM

I'm going to try and make one for this round but i'm only worried about meeting the deadline. It is a shame that not so many people participate in this sort of exchanges.

Danny Himself 02.04.2007 02:45 PM

I'm gonna try and record some stuff for this tape round. It may prove interesting. I have a tape of me humming the first side of 'Daydream Nation' somewhere. I did it on a 4-track so theres a hum for each guitar, vocals, and beatbox drums.

hat and beard 02.04.2007 02:55 PM

I"m down for this one.

noumenal 02.04.2007 02:56 PM

I think I'm in again too.

Trasher02 02.04.2007 03:01 PM

I'm gonna have to pass...
I'll join in next time!

Glice 02.12.2007 04:31 PM

I've decided I'm going to stick to a theme this time. I'm probably going to do an entirely percussion-based tape. So some poor lamb is probably going to hate that. Ooh, the fun.

Danny Himself 02.12.2007 04:46 PM

I should get started on this tape soon.

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.12.2007 09:08 PM

More people please.

Danny Himself 02.12.2007 09:09 PM

Sucks, don't it? We need to guerilla market this shit.

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.12.2007 09:13 PM

That sounds like your department.

Get em'.

Danny Himself 02.12.2007 09:39 PM

I had got them before you even thought about typing that. Thats how fast I am. I'm so fast that I am wearing your clothes.

finding nobody 02.15.2007 08:30 PM

Got me tape finished. It's a good one
Oh yeah! I forgot to say "Count me in!" but uhh Count me in!

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.15.2007 08:51 PM

Good.

We still need more people. Whats going on with the English participants?

Get crackin'.

compulsive diarrhea, jico 02.15.2007 09:15 PM

i'm in.

nomadicfollower 02.15.2007 09:20 PM

I'll join.
(and I'll PM later)

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.15.2007 09:21 PM

Good deal guys.

Nomadicfollower: I know you've got plenty of good material.

nomadicfollower 02.15.2007 09:27 PM

Hopefully I can come up with something good.

Since this is my first time, what are some of the basic rules? Aside from sending the tape and $2 to you, what do I need to do? Is the swap anonymous? Do I make an insert design and such? Do I leave a tracklist?

finding nobody 02.15.2007 09:32 PM

You should include something that will let us know who you are. Other then that it's all up to you. Artwork is a nice addition but it's not 100% necessary. Hip Preist did a tape without a tracklist and then posted the tracklist here. It's all up to you

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.15.2007 09:32 PM

Its all up to you really. I think the only rule we agreed on was no Sonic Youth songs.

It can be anonymous if you want. A few of mine didn't even include a track list.

Artwork is optional too.

You can review some of the artwork here for inspiration:

Mixtape Artwork

Which reminds me, I need to scan Glices and Finding Nobodys artwork.

sonicl 02.18.2007 03:35 PM

I'm not going to commit to taking part until I have a tape compiled, but I'll be doing my best to do it.

I unwrapped a new pack of tapes just now, and for some reason there's a label on the packing reading: "Warning! This product is fitted with a security device which is NOT MICROWAVABLE". Which put paid to my plans for having TDK C90 au vin for tea.

Glice 02.19.2007 03:42 PM

Don't you hate it when you have an idea for a mixtape and you realise that the second half is knackered by a friend borrowing loads of records off you?

Mine's nearly finished. It's largely percussion-based, but thanks to said forgotten loanage, not entirely percussion. Exciting, no?

jon boy 02.19.2007 03:45 PM

yes agreed glice, lending records to others can be a real problem infact i know people who just flat out refuse for fear of never getting them back.

I stopped lending records out to people other than people I trust a great deal a fair few years ago. Around the time I lost my original copy of Lou Reed's Berlin, as it happens. It's easier to just copy things for people, or just not let them borrow things period.

Cool idea. If you like how it comes out then you should post it for the board....that sure would be swell. Who all is on it so far?

PAULYBEE2656 02.20.2007 07:46 AM

Ah, I'm not giving away my secrets. Some Indian, some Avant-garde, some hippy, some free-ish, some more avant-ish. I have no means of converting tape into pretend format, but if you ask nicely, perhaps s/he who receives it will up it for you.

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.20.2007 03:21 PM

Or maybe he can join our archaic underworld and make a tape himself. If he wishes hard enough, he could end up with Glices tape.

Eh?

Right, my package is all ready to be sent in the morning. It interests me to note that the above's real name (or what I assume to be his real name) sounds a lot more Irish than it does Russian.

Yes, join in Mr Krastian. The more the merrier, etc.

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.20.2007 09:51 PM

Certainly my first name has Irish origins.

My last name would probably sound 'more Russian' if it hadn't of been changed long before I was born. And even with its more original spelling, it sounds more Czech or Polish than Russian.

I could PM you with more useless information about it, but I'm sure I've bored you enough already with it!

noumenal 02.21.2007 04:55 PM

My tape for this round is called:

Drill Sergeant Noumy's Morning Workout

Пятхъдесят Шест 02.21.2007 05:00 PM

I like it.

I've not even started mine yet, let alone name it.
