Oh FFS - someone have a word with this "group" and their "transgressive" fuckwittery. What next - them covering Buju Banton's "Boom Bye Bye"? |
So many good bands, Mad Nanna's I Made Blood Better is probably one of the best guitar albums of the last few years.
|
You ought to make your drunken hours more fun and productive. Australia has been producing some great musicians for a while now.
|
Understanding is not enough. Why do you not listen to stuff before you shoot your mouth off? It's not all just ''Garage Punk''. God, this is so boring. I'm 40 next week and I'm still telling someone who gave up on music a long time ago that they have boring taste in music on an internet forum.

Sewers

^^ You shouldn't take "punk" too literally, at least not in a musical sense. A lot of the bands listed sound nothing like "punk music"... some are punk, some garage/post-punk/noise rock/no wave/no-technique/primitive/lo-fi/downer rock/whatever. Anyway, I've been listening to a lot of Australian bands the last couple of years. Especially Melbourne and Brisbane have been producing a lot of great bands. |
Are Gravel Samwidge not from New Zealand? I know you like being anal about this sort of thing. Satanic Rockers are all Kiwis relocated to Melbourne, but I suppose they count as Australasians too.

I've never heard of them and google doesn't help... got a link/album title/whatever? Quote:
you mean Exhaustion, right? Future Eaters is the name of their record. |
lol

I do. GS are from Brisbane I think, or at least that's where they are located right now. I'd count Satanic Rockers, but what about Degreaser? That's one Australian guy's band who's relocated to NYC nowadays (same with Scott & Charlene's Wedding). |
Crazy.
Aren't Modra Australians who live in New York? And Homostupids? Serious question. |
I can't be fucked with Google. Sorry.
|
dunno!
|
Nevermind petty arguments. Modra's ''The Line For the Men's Room'' is a great record. Check it out.
|
I like what I've heard from Modra, didn't realise they are australians, and homostupids are american surely?

Not sure if they fit in the thread but what I've heard so far I've liked. |
again, I'm saddened by the lack of taco leg. their first (and presumably only) record was so great, mad energy and total lack of pretension http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViNqNGHokx0 not nostalgic, instead totally childlike.

i was listening to UV Race and found this now
https://soundcloud.com/loungemelbour...ve-hierophants might be neat. thanks for the thread. will check. Quote:
ah this is too cute. |
new total control record 'typical system' out soon. http://messandnoise.com/news/4650341
live the tracks sound pretty similar to henge beat but the poppy elements are more pronounced, sounds a bit like the human league or joy division but not shit or whatever. |
