How much do you pay for a haircut?

I was going to get my hair cut last weekend, but all the barbers where I was were charging £12.50 for a mens' cut, which I thought was ridiculous, particularly considering that I paid £5 for a perfectly good cut elsewhere a couple of months ago.

How much did you pay last time you had a haircut? And what did you get for your money?

jon boy 03.07.2007 04:56 AM

i do it myself, but then again you know my what 'hair' is like. you should get yourself to jeds in hyde park, leeds. £4 for any cut but you have to put up with jeds rubbing his belly against you and stroking your back to get hair of it a little too much. go there in winter and you get a free shot of whisky with every cut.

Onani Nic 03.07.2007 05:01 AM

I haven't paid for a haircut since I left home. DIY or die. But I have thick, curly hair so it doesn't have to be even.

Norma J 03.07.2007 05:02 AM

$35. But I hadn't paid for a haircut for years before that, I know apprentice hairdressers and I would cut and thin out bits myself that needed being done. But I felt like a full on proper du, so I paid that much. And I don't mind 'cause it's a salon that uses all vegan products and they pamper the shit out of you with massages and lattes and shit. Not going to be as regular thing, but it was nice.

ZEROpumpkins 03.07.2007 05:05 AM

I'm indie. I cut my own hair.

Katy 03.07.2007 05:08 AM

I've never paid for a haircut.

Tokolosh 03.07.2007 05:23 AM

€17

Norma J 03.07.2007 05:28 AM

17 pounds? That's like $42Aus?

fishmonkey 03.07.2007 05:38 AM

my older brother and my cousin is a barber, so therefore i pay €0.00 for a haircut and have done all my life. i also pay €0.00 for all hair products that i use, mainly wax. i'm a walking advertisment for them really.

king_buzzo 03.07.2007 05:47 AM

17 euros

cool!

Toilet & Bowels 03.07.2007 07:39 AM

yeah my sister pays silly money to get her hair cut too,

anyway, sometimes i cut my own hair with my clippers, sometimes i pay (£5 at this hair dressing academy near my college) or sometimes i get a friend to cut it.

RdTv 03.07.2007 08:04 AM

I pay nothing for haircuts, and by this I don't mean that I cut it myself or something of that nature. No, I get my hair cut at a barber shop or what have you, I simply don't pay the man any money. We barter.

Yeah but can't she write that off as a business expense and get the tax back or something?

I pay £6.90.

jon boy 03.07.2007 08:07 AM

i pay the price of a packet of razors and shaving foam. corsano and britney eat your heart out.

davenotdead 03.07.2007 08:10 AM

i used to go wherever my dad would barter with people....now that im on my own, i do it myself, because im cool and indie...actually, i would do it myself sometimes even when i was home and could get it for free...

davenotdead 03.07.2007 08:16 AM

Toilet & Bowels 03.07.2007 08:36 AM

jon boy 03.07.2007 08:40 AM

i do but not a great deal. it fell out one day.

sonicl 03.07.2007 08:44 AM

I'm making the most of having hair to cut before it recedes any further. I'll miss it when it goes, the grey flecks look quite distinguished in the right light.

noumenal 03.07.2007 08:48 AM

$20

too much

or nothing

zedius 03.07.2007 12:08 PM

I paid $12 Canadian

ALIEN ANAL 03.07.2007 12:09 PM

i cut it my self, i cant stand hair dressers

screamingskull 03.07.2007 12:10 PM

£40.00ish, although i only do it once a year, maybe.

gmku 03.07.2007 12:12 PM

I steal my haircuts.

Trasher02 03.07.2007 12:32 PM

I pay nothing.
I do everything myself. You know the indie way.

Rob Instigator 03.07.2007 12:35 PM

I pay $14.00 at supercuts and leave a $5.00 tip

MCHammer 03.07.2007 12:37 PM

nothing. i'll just tie my hair and cut i litle bit off.
works perfect.

Iain 03.07.2007 01:03 PM

I find the American habit of tipping hairdressers odd and somewhat amusing. If I went around tipping every fucker I'd already paid to do me a service then I'd be broke.

Maybe other people tip hairdressers, I don't know. I don't know anyone that does. I tip in restaurants but that's it. It's the British way.

gmku 03.07.2007 01:05 PM

I do tip my barber just cuz I like him a lot and he does a great job. I've been going to him for 14 years!

Cardinal Rob 03.07.2007 01:13 PM

I've never paid; my friend cuts my hair.

Danny Himself 03.07.2007 01:49 PM

A family friend cuts my hair. She charges £5 usually. She owns a hair salon.

HairwayToSteven 03.07.2007 02:13 PM

What's this "haircut" you speak of?

jagger 03.07.2007 03:09 PM

I'd give gold and mountains just to have somebody move their fingers through my hair for 40 minutes.

zedius 03.07.2007 03:39 PM

Yeah, tipping is getting ridiculous. Why should a certain select few people get tips? Does anyone tip their nurse or dentist?
