I hope it doesn't sound too odd,but there was this documentary on Channel 5 a few weeks ago about those joined american twins.I was so overwhelmed by their human strength,it made me think that my ideal patner would probably be a male version of them.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 03.07.2007 03:01 PM

I'm 1/16th native American and I used to have long hair Screamingskull

pardon me, mademoiselle, and your dream sounds lovely, but may i interject to say that my dear wife would say that you're perpetuating stereotypes by romanticizing the indian? he would be amazingly kind without even a hint of evil in him, as if he never even learnt what evil is sounds awfully pretty, but it's straight out of rousseau's conceptions of the "noble savage", and beyond that...

im gonna quote howard zinn cos it's readily available on google:

Quote:

Columbus wrote:
"As soon as I arrived in the Indies, on the first Island which I found, I took some of the natives by force in order that they might learn and might give me information of whatever there is in these parts." The information that Columbus wanted most was: Where is the gold?
The Indians, Columbus reported, "are so naive and so free with their possessions that no one who has not witnessed them would believe it. When you ask for something they have, they never say no. To the contrary, they offer to share with anyone...." He concluded his report by asking for a little help from their Majesties, and in return he would bring them from his next voyage "as much gold as they need . . . and as many slaves as they ask." He was full of religious talk: "Thus the eternal God, our Lord, gives victory to those who follow His way over apparent impossibilities."
Because of Columbus's exaggerated report and promises, his second expedition was given seventeen ships and more than twelve hundred men. The aim was clear: slaves and gold. They went from island to island in the Caribbean, taking Indians as captives. But as word spread of the Europeans' intent they found more and more empty villages. On Haiti, they found that the sailors left behind at Fort Navidad had been killed in a battle with the Indians, after they had roamed the island in gangs looking for gold, taking women and children as slaves for sex and labor.

anyway, injuns are just like anybody else-- only hotter, i give you that.

where was i going with this? oh i forget...

Is this about the ideal patner or about the ideal internet patner? In that case the winner is...................

jon boy 03.07.2007 03:40 PM

mine: someone kind, assertive, kooky, serious (in a good way), fun, that i can have a serious conversation with and also a laugh. likes the 'weird' (i am told by most people i like weird stuff) music etc i like.

although not all of this is a dealbreaker haha. i think its easier to say the things i dont want. no one who uses the expression work hard play hard.

i dint have a type though, i mean i dont prefer blondes or redheads or something.

In that case, stalkerish, saccharine, submissive types need no apply. In fact people like that scare me off more than anyone.Ideally someone who's got another goal in life rather than just being in a relationship with someone else.

The 'Can i be with you 24 hours a day?' type really frightens me.It's hard enough to think about if i had to spend 24 hours with my own self that i generally don't think another ' intensily amorous' person would make things any better for themselves or myself.

tell that to john and yoko.

yes its better to have space from eachother even when starting a relationship. makes you want to be with the other person more and time to think/appreciate them. also to live your own life without being smothered.

but see when you stereotype people you dehumanize them. you think there's any human being on the planet that "doesn't know evil"? that would be more of a pet. uncle tom!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noble_savage

where you'll find this:

Quote:

In the 20th century, the concept of the noble savage came to be seen as unrealistic and condescending. Insofar as it was based on certain stereotypes, it came to be considered a form of patronizing racism, even when it replaced the previous stereotype of the bloodthirsty savage. It has been criticized by many, for example Roger Sandall, in academic, anthropological, sociological and religious fields. For instance, some Christians, especially those who believe in the doctrine of original sin, consider mankind to be universally degenerate and sinful at heart, regardless of whatever people group or civilization they are associated with. (See a critique of the Huaorani people of Ecuador in the documentary Beyond the Gates of Splendor and the associated film End of the Spear.)

I have been in enough relationships(not that many but still...) to turn me into an ultra realistic person when it comes to them.I don't like the words 'cynicism' or 'bitterness' as i'm neither but certainly you become more coldly clinical about them after you made those mistakes.
