Bracketology

Hey, I set up a league to post your brackets in if you are a college hoops fan.....you can also see how you are doing against everyone on Yahoo (not just us). All you need is a Yahoo id.....it's really easy to do. The last day to post your bracket is Thursday the 15th. Hopefully we can get a couple of people to play.

Here's the link:

experts piss me off, on average about 4 guys on tv had 2 or 3 No 1 seeds in their final four last night, they have no imagination, no heart, i may look back at my picks again later and see if any lower seeds can make it in, currently my lowest final four seed is a 5, i have a team in mind that is a 7 (one where the coach paints himself bright orange) but we'll see

Пятхъдесят Шест 03.12.2007 05:42 PM

I should be able to take part...

Go Creighton.

pantophobia 03.12.2007 07:13 PM

mentioned last year but:

the odds of predicting a perfect braket is over 9 QUINTILLION to 1
or in long form exactly 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 to 1

if everyone on the planet picked a different bracket, there is only a 1000 to 1 chance that one of them is right

What does this mean? (What is meant by bracket??)

pantophobia 03.12.2007 07:58 PM

During March Madness, many people enjoy predicting the outcome of the NCAA tournaments. Bracketology is the art of picking the correct teams that will be in the tournaments. The 65 (including the 2 teams who compete in the play-in game) participating teams are announced by the selection committee on Selection Sunday, although some teams are known to have made it already by winning their conference tournament (See: At-large bid, Automatic bid). The teams are seeded from 1 to 16 in 4 regional groupings around the country. The eventual winners of the four regions then meet at the Final Four in a predetermined location. The four seeds play out the tournament through single eliminaton until a National Champion is crowned.

The more the merrier!! Remember, you don't have to set your bracket in stone as of now....you can still play around with it on the site until Thursday.

I want to join, and I hate Yahoo.

afterthefact 03.13.2007 10:00 PM

UK is out, so I'm out. I don't follow any other teams, I don't have the patience to pay attention to everybody's games, rankings, and other shinanigans...

Пятхъдесят Шест 03.13.2007 10:01 PM

Ah, but UK is most certainly in.

afterthefact 03.13.2007 10:07 PM

DId they not lose? I was told they already lost. Like I said, I don't follow any of it, I just go by what I hear, and catch an occasional game or two...

Пятхъдесят Шест 03.13.2007 10:09 PM

They have not played yet. They lost in the SEC Tournament.

They play Villanova on Friday, I believe.

My bracket could go up in flames real quick.....we'll see.

king_buzzo 03.14.2007 03:40 AM

i don't wanna join i dont like that stuff.

atari 2600 03.15.2007 08:05 AM

is anyone picking more than one full bracket?

atari 2600 03.15.2007 12:07 PM

very random notes:
I should've known Davidson would contend with Maryland, after all, the on-screen scoreboard has them as "13 DAVID."

Well, at least I didn't have the Terrapins going that far anyway...(unlike you cats haha)...well, it's still far from being over...

Remember last year when the scoreboard read
BRAD
PITT
during the Bradley and Pittsburgh match-up?

jennthebenn 03.15.2007 12:30 PM

the anxieties that go with being a terps fan...
my god. louisville is at least performing as
they should.

atari 2600 03.15.2007 12:36 PM

they demonstrated some resolve there though to lead by 1 at the half...
they better go up early in the next...

atari 2600 03.15.2007 12:47 PM

and they did not.
MD skunked 9-0 so far in the 2nd as the call a time out

13 DAVID

how could I have overlooked something this delightfully auspicious?

pantophobia 03.15.2007 01:41 PM

no David this year

experience wins out, but it is a little concerning to see so many needless turnovers, MD was lucky they can rebound, but that will be little solace against the larger teams

atari 2600 03.15.2007 02:44 PM

yes, it turned out to be a somewhat idle conversation=, but yeah, no way are they beating Florida (later on in the regional semis (if it happens)).

well, favored BC beat TX Tech...my first mess-up

atari 2600 03.15.2007 06:17 PM

that was the second one i chose incorrectly...i thought old dominion might best butler

3rd...should've listened to that lil' birdie about vcu

jennthebenn 03.15.2007 09:07 PM

patrick said to me, "you're indulging in wishful thinking with that VCU pick."

did you see how excited they were on selection sunday when it was
announced they would face duke? seriously, my hatred of the douche
bag devils aside, i saw something there. a team with hunger.

how's your mom dealing with her 'Dukies' lose? she throw an apple at the TV?

jennthebenn 03.15.2007 10:12 PM

yes, and then she immediately picked it up and wiped it off.

i love it.

I'm not....I can see how some people might want to if they are doing it just to try and win money, but there are also the people that hold up one out of their 10 brackets and say, "Dudes. I totally knew that Boston College would be playing in the championship!!!" Pick one and go down guns a' blazin'.

Friggin' VCU beating Duke is fucking great!!! Ben Wallace must be ecstatic!!
It fucks my bracket up a bit because I had them getting it together and beating Pitt....oh well.

If our freshman PG's don't turn over the ball, Mike Jones get's hot, Vazquez plays like a man possessed like he did against Duke, and our bigs keep blocking shots/plug up the lane, then I really think we have a shot against Florida. Florida has shown that they can be vulnerable...they lost like 3-4 in a row earlier. Plus Gary Williams rules.

Gotta take care of Butler first!!

UVA!

atari 2600 03.17.2007 01:47 PM

I picked Ohio State to beat a very good Xavier team. It wasn't an easy choice. I then originally picked the Buckeyes to go all the way to the championship game and lose to Florida, but then I changed my mind and went with the Tarheels for that spot.
I'm starting to wonder if I didn't make a mistake with the change now.

It's now tied 38-38 at the beginning of the 2nd half, but Ohio State has been showing me just how great they are. They will win this game. The first half scoring was just low due to the impressive defense played by each team. Bad draw for Xavier, although right now they are winning.

atari 2600 03.17.2007 02:20 PM

Those two missed threes for Ohio State may prove to be their undoing.
I'm on the edge-of-my-seat.
Oden, you goon.

atari 2600 03.17.2007 02:24 PM

Ron Lewis...the best playing the game.

I actually made a post a minute ago (before) simply stating: "Lewis," but deleted it.

atari 2600 03.17.2007 02:29 PM

Conley rope-a-dope in OT!

Oh man, this team is going to go all the way!
The Buckeyes give me joy...like the Chargers in the NFL...fucking Hitchcockian suspense & thrills.

I made a mistake thinking the Tarheels (later on) could stop it. No Volunteer or Cavalier (still...respect!) can stop it, that's for sure!

atari 2600 03.17.2007 09:09 PM

I couldn't tell ya what I thought of the call, as I passed out earlier.
Basquez is a baller for sure though, too bad they're out of it now.

Tarheels better play like they know they can (some D, please!) and stop relying on Hansbrough.
Surely they can beat these reverse-leprechaun Spartans.

demonrail666 03.17.2007 09:12 PM

So have Ohio won then?

atari 2600 03.17.2007 09:13 PM

Ohio State Buckeyes?

Lewis & Conley!

demonrail666 03.17.2007 09:14 PM

Yeah the Buckeyes, have they won?
