Thurston Moore - Rock n Roll Consciousness [2016]
Ok, so what we got so far:
Recorded by Paul Epworth in London at The Church. Mixed by Randall Dunn in Seattle at Avast! Mastered in Chicago. Album contains 7 songs. It will be released by Fiction Records. It should be out in April 28, 2017. Songs we know so far: Ceasefire Exalted Aphrodite Cusp Smoke of Dreams Turn On https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...8f&oe=59109888 |
Moore describes the record as “deeper and darker” than “Best Day.”
|
Fans shouldn’t expect any Sonic Youth songs.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to greenlight again.

a song have been recorded at Mikrokosm studio in Villeurbanne, France... it sounds like it will be used on the next album. I'm good friend with the engineer and could listen to it ;-)
some pictures here : https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...64127 &type=3 that's where we recorded our last LP with my band too ! |
I hope he will change the name of the album (very possible, he seems to always do it). Well, hope also he has now done more work with arrangements, so it could be really possible the new album will be deeper & darker.

Whoah! Was it good? |
yes ! nothing brand new from what you can expect but great though... very straigt forward, short song...
|
I can actually foresee the name of this record being my favourite thing about it.

great interview. thanks for the link! |
Yeap, cheers. Don't know what to expect from Randall Dunn, though.
|
^ different taste I guess? Although I'll admit myself that I don't like any of Thurston's solo stuff except for chelsea light moving.
BUT, when I listened to Aphrodite, that was an instant buy for me. Can't wait to get the record. |
I really like those new songs! Sounds to me he´s continuing where he left in Best Day, but he´s better arranged these songs. Some of the noise parts sounds SY to me! Hope the entity will be better than Best Day. Great to see Steve seem to be OK.

Any updates?

I don't care for Sunn O))), but Dunn produced Marissa Nadler's July (also her upcoming new one, Strangers, by the way) and the results are excellent — not that far away from Beck's work on Demolished Thoughts (dude, give up the bullcrap solo career and focus on producing), a bit darker. |

He's also produced most or all of Earth's post-hiatus material, which I have made no secret of my affection for. |

Thibault: About the experimental aspect of your music, I read that you don't take drug because you need a balance between your personal life - supposedly healthy - and the music you create - a little bit less conventional. This is Hermann Hesse philosophy as well, in Steppenwolf. All of that is quite far from the cliché of a rockstar... And this is outside common standards...
Thurston: Drugs seem like a good idea....maybe when I'm older. I like the idea of opium. Eva makes the most delicious absinthe lemonade in the summer. It's a secret recipe. It feels like heaven. |

Splendid journalism. |

By the way, the other day I was looking for a Thurston pic to accompany a Dimeadozen link and as I typed his name on Google I got the following suggestion: "thurston moore eva PERON". Seriously. |
"I like the idea of opium"???
Well, yeah. In THEORY full body euphoria is great. In practice, it's .... ah... one of the single most destructive forces in the history of the world? Is that fair to say? But yeah, I mean... I like "the idea" of it too. Not to mention the "idea" of ecstasy, cocaine, speedballin', and everything else that makes your brain feel amazing. Unfortunately there's quite a bit more to it than just the "idea." Like, I don't know... the reality. What a weird thing to say. |

I think you're joking, but I want to respectfully disagree anyway. |

I hope he has a cold because he doesn't sound well. |
any news of the album?
|

I think I heard it's coming out next year now... I could be wrong though! |

Yeah, I also hear Thurston saying in some interview that it will be out during the spring 2017... |
=( oh well
|
Will be released by Fiction Records.
|
Yeah, in April. I've updated the info we know so far.
|
Still nothing?
|
by the time it will get released it will be old already, hehe.

I guess so  It looks weird that there's still no info about it, if it should be out in April, so I guess it will be postponed again. The reason why I'm pushing this topic is that I'm really curious about what Paul Epworth did with it. |
