Be Your Own PET!!!!

Who here loves Be Your Own PET???

Best Album of 2006 for me without a doubt. Its been on constant rotation in my CD player since the moment a bought it. Its just a pleasure from beginning to end. 'Bog' and 'October, First Account' are definately the highlights for me.

afterthefact 03.13.2007 09:56 PM

Best album of 2006? Hardly. But it is definately good.

SynthethicalY 03.13.2007 10:30 PM

Its good, but I hardly bought an albums last year. But still fairly good.

!@#$%! 03.13.2007 10:39 PM

SynthethicalY 03.13.2007 10:41 PM

Is this your way of saying your gay shit "eeeeeeeeeewwwwww?" Unmentionable.

Georgekrz 03.14.2007 08:42 AM

well yeah but what happened to them? have they broken up?

demonrail666 03.14.2007 09:21 AM

I missed them live at ATP but saw some clips and they looked awesome. I think they might be a bit of a one-album thing, but who cares; they're great

macrodollar 03.14.2007 12:17 PM

Awesome band. "Ouch" is my favourite I think. I love the complete none-sensical lyrics and the MCR like energy.

Danny Himself 03.14.2007 12:31 PM

I love them for their energy and childishness. I'm pretty bummed now that Jamin has left though. His drumming was supoib.

Georgekrz 03.14.2007 12:32 PM

i saw them live 3 times, they were amazing, however the last show i saw was at Southpaw in Brooklyn, and Jemina was in a pissed off mood she didnt smile or say anything the whole night, someone said say something and she said "fuck you" obviously something was up....

edit- holy fuck check this out...http://www.myspace.com/beyourownpetmusic

and here you find some more BIG pics

racehorse 03.14.2007 03:28 PM

personally i don't think they are much good, they are generic and i don't believe them.

demonrail666 03.14.2007 03:37 PM

I don't think there's much to believe or disbelieve with them. The album's pretty good. The singer's obviously cute. If Top of the Pops was still going it would've been great to see them on it. Anyway, they'll only be around for a couple of years probably so no harm done either way.

WHOREOHSCOPE 03.14.2007 05:37 PM

schizophrenicroom 03.14.2007 05:49 PM

they rock except for the fact they're touring with the bloody arctic monkeys. they're playing orlando.. not sure if i want to pay the hard rock cafe's prices for 20 minutes of byop.

Georgekrz 03.15.2007 01:25 AM

thats a good point, playing longer than 30 minutes would be nice...

demonrail666 03.15.2007 05:43 AM

They have a definite sell-by-date but they're fun enough in the short term.

Georgekrz 03.15.2007 09:32 AM

you think so? i dont know about the rest of the band but the singer i think is in it for the long run...

Georgekrz 03.15.2007 09:43 AM

i saw them at coachella and at Lollapalooza and no one else was doing what they were doing, not even close. but, you may be right, lets see what the next album brings.

nicfit 03.15.2007 09:56 AM

i think yyy's guitarist is quite good while byop's is nothing to write home about, even if his style suits well the music byop do. I think this post is useless.

Washing Machine 03.15.2007 11:30 AM

Yeah Jemma Pearl is very Hot! I'm looking forward to their next release, then we can more accurately discuss their place in history. But in the meantime I can't get enough of their debut.

Although in fairness 2006 was a very weak year...

nicfit 03.15.2007 11:47 AM

jemina.

drrrtyboots 03.15.2007 02:01 PM

2007 is where it's at for releases Washing Machine.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 03.15.2007 02:50 PM

i saw them at bonnaroo
i thought they were ok
nothing special
their debut is alright

washing machine: new radiohead, duh

Trasher02 03.15.2007 04:36 PM

BYOP is a good fun and energetic band and I love to listen to them every once and a while but they're certainly not the best band of 2007 mainly because of the lack of depth in their music. That's what you get when you play punk music.

I love Jemina though.

Hawt.

Arcade Fire, Dinosaur Jr. Blonde Redhead, Animal Collective, Battles, !!!, Shellac, Psychic Paramount (not too well known but fantasticly loud), Panda Bear, possibly Gang Gang Dance, Explosions in the Sky, Deerhoof and many others all putting out/put out new albums. Some mighty fine excitement in that if you ask me.

I posted about the show before, but here are some of my pics again.

When I saw them they set up on a foot and half tall stage and I was yelling at them the whole time to play on the floor, Jemimna or whatever was scared Detroit. I ended up getting real rowdy that night, had a real good time. Black Lips opened I think I like them better.

atsonicpark 03.16.2007 08:57 AM

can a band get any worse?

Never really got on with Arcade Fire, I like Dinosaur JR, love Animal Collective....I still stand by my statement though

2007 is gonna be a great year for music I think, with a new Pumpkins album (hopefully a return to the glory days of Siamese Dream...or the stripped back elegance of Adore) and a new Radiohead album.

oh and a new NIN album too

_slavo_ 03.16.2007 10:38 AM

Jemina is so hot I can't even believe she's an American.
