Sleeve art
To anyone who's making sleeves - I don't have time to pay much attention to every record I borrow - PUT SOMETHING TO DIFFERENTIATE YOUR RECORD FROM THE OTHERS YOU FUCKING PRICKS.
I'm weighing through my flatmate's LPs at the moment, and he's got lots of minimal techno/ hard house (that sort of thing). I'm listening to something Finnish and strange, and it's brilliant, but I have absolutely no idea what the fuck the sleeve thinks it's playing at. CUNTS. (Exception - Francesco Lopez; those sleeves are appropriate) |
Were you suffering from the White Label syndrome at the time you posted this, you prick-shaped prick?
|
Oh, and it's Francisco Lopez, you twat. Sort it out.
|
Yes, but I have subsequently forgotten.
|
that is what you get for listening to techno.
|
CUNT.
That's what you get for being a puritan. [It's all in jest of course]. |
techno/dance sleevss are ussually just white cardboard.
I think that comes from old school DJ's back in the day not wanting any other DJ to steal their choice cuts. or maybe because techno/dance/house music is fucking bullshit stupid fuck shit for dipfucks. |
Yeah man, why can't they, like, dance badly, wearing terrible clothes, taking terrible drugs and being UNSPEAKABLY ugly like REAL rock guys?
Sorry, horseshit argument Rob. Again, I like you. In fact, I think I like you more because I think nearly everything you say is utter horseshit, yet you seem to enjoy the banter. That's a real man right there, ladies and gentlemen. But seriously, horseshit argument. |
did you read what I wrote? there was no argument. i stated that
techno/dance sleevss are ussually just white cardboard. I think that comes from old school DJ's back in the day not wanting any other DJ to steal their choice cuts. everything els was just col-rippin' on bullshit ass techno |
" or maybe because techno/dance/house music is fucking bullshit stupid fuck shit for dipfucks."
To which I reacted. Did you read what you wrote? |
Having gawped at some hand-sprayed Ashtray Navigation LP sleeves last week, I'm liking the DIY sleeve look right now.
Re Dance 12" sleeves - I liked the old generic Penny Black and Dread labl sleeves back in the days of ye olde drum and bass. |
col'-rippin' on BULLSHIT ASS techno!
|
"Ass Techno" - gay disco?
|
gay disco is so much fun but I think it is redundant
|
To you maybe, good sir, but as for me... (joins gay conga line to Vauxhall).
|
I meant the words "GAY DISCO"
Disco music being a direct offshoot of underground gay club cluture in the 70's. |
Actually, we were talking about Gay Disco at work today, and I remember seeing a few years ago an old clip of some female diva doing a disco version of "Can't Take My Eyes Of You", flanked by two moustachioed muscled dancers going like the clappers. Pure camp heaven!
Er, anyway, back on topic - yeah, boring techno sleeves. They not good. |
Disco is not a redundant genre of music at all, and nor is House music. The fact that they attract an absurd amount of wicked DJs shouldn't be blamed on the genre, but on the myriad shit DJs.
|
Quote:
the redundancy was in the two words GAY DISCO not the music. disco music was made by actual musicians which is always good |
everybody wants to be DJ
everybody wants to be an MC |
Giorgio Moroder is hardly someone who makes me think of your classic examples of 'real' musicians, but still. Saying that Disco music is redundant is a bit much. After all, I can't claim to have experienced the music of purist rock fans who had Sonic Youth, Donna Summer, Belle And Sebastian and Espers all on the same ipod, whereas that's become regular occurance with my gay friends who I regularly go to clubs with and dance to House etc. Generally speaking most people are retards when it comes to music, but that incidence of retardness is no more present amongst people who listen to music that is not made purely by guitars, but also by other, erm, artificial instruments.
|
I am completely mis-understood.
the TERM GAY DISCO is what I was referring to as "redundant"!! not the music!!!! |
Ops! Sorry, I hadn't seen your other post, Rob. I get what you're saying, but do you realize that it seems like you are speculating that gay disco is a redundant term because it is made by real musicians, and not gays? I know that's not what you mean, but it made me smile a bit. You're still a top dude.

let's dance

It's a good point (yawn, make some shit ones please) but one has to resist the prevailing wind, doesn't one? Or, better, provide some sort of contrast in order to avoid the stultifying hegemony of indie kids. |
