you cant really compare the two. the fall are so much better on so many levels compared to the smiths in my humbe opinion.

Fallgruppe, of course. There's a lot to be said about The Smiths (they were astoundingly good), but in any MES vs MOZ match-up, MES's 'folk festival boys' win out every time.

That's kind of tuff for me. I'll say The Fall because I can listen to them pretty much anytime, but I have to be in a certain mood to listen to The Smiths even though I love them.

The Smiths write great fucking songs.
They are equals I say, but I voted the smiths because I do not know much FALL material.
Morrissey is my favorite british lyricist of all time.

This was close. I went for the Smiths mostly for Bigmouth Strikes Again, but I don't like any Smiths album as a whole barring The Queen Is Dead.

But I heart The Fall.

for me its the smiths, the fall kinda went over my head really, i know they existed but never bothered to go out and hear them.. so yeah the smiths... im going with the fall even though I really love both and know way more smiths songs... but camparing my favorite albums of each, queen in dead vs. hex enduction hour... gotta be the fall.

Didn't the two bands take swipes at eachother in interviews? I'm sure I read somewere that Mark E. took a swipe at the Smiths and Morrisey reciprocated.
