Alrighty people. Reccomend me some cds for my weekly cd spree

I want indie rock from the early 90's or late 80's. I already have the first three pavement albums in expanded form, and am holding out for BTC in expanded. I have all of Dinos good albums. I want Sebadoh or something similar. I have all the Flaming lips albums from the 90's except ambulance and Zaireeka!. Hurry!

sonicl 04.20.2007 07:59 AM

Start in your own backyard:

Scientists - Sedition or Blood Red River
Triffids - Born Sandy Devotional or Calenture

sarramkrop 04.20.2007 08:02 AM

Keep it Australian, then:

New Christs - Distemper

ZEROpumpkins 04.20.2007 08:06 AM

Anything not Australian?

sonicl 04.20.2007 08:09 AM

Einstuerzende Neubauten - Halber Mensch or Strategies Against Architechture 2

ZEROpumpkins 04.20.2007 08:11 AM

In A Doghouse contains their first LP and EP, plus a few demoes. It is well worth the entrance fee.

ZEROpumpkins 04.20.2007 08:20 AM

cool, thanks. I'll let you know how I go.

Florya 04.20.2007 08:33 AM

that was released on an independent record label, those ARE indie records.

but, inspired by the mention of HoD, I will add:
Jesu - Conqueror

So Pavement qualifies as indie, yet EN do not?

sonicl 04.20.2007 10:34 AM

Another suggestion, with which I'm sure Lux will agree:

The Cramps - Bad Music for Bad People or Psychedelic Jungle or Songs the Lord Taught Us or Stay Sick or Flamejob or Off The Bone or Smell of Female or A Date With Elvis.

Florya 04.20.2007 10:39 AM

If we're not being limited to 'guitar based' indie then I'd recommend the Australian home grown wonderfulness of 'Severed Heads' - City Slab Horror in particular.

luxinterior 04.20.2007 11:02 AM

Mmm...Cramps.

nick2767 04.20.2007 11:41 AM

Guitar based 80's/90's indie, how about these 4 (as a starter for ten)

archers of loaf
band of susans
mission of burma
tar

This could be a really loooooonnnng list if I put my mind to it!

Cardinal Rob 04.20.2007 12:15 PM

Nat Baldwin - Lights Out

I've only got A Gilded Eternity by Loop though - I... well... it's good stuff, but it's not exactly seminal. Just solid.

Anyone hear of Nick Cave's new band "Grinderman"? I was browsing the new releases on BarnesandNoble.com and stumbled upon it and was skimming over the tracks, it sounds pretty cool. Guess if you're a Cave fan you'd want to check this out.

ZEROpumpkins 04.20.2007 11:36 PM

Alright i'm back now. I bought III, Bakesale, Bubble and Scrape and Westing (By Musket and Sextant). Remember this is Australia so I couldn't find any Jesus Lizard and only 2 Throwing Muses albums. No Polvo either.

schizophrenicroom 04.20.2007 11:40 PM

good choices.

for yr next spree:

liars- drums not dead
andrew bird- armchair apocrypha
cloud cult- the meaning of 8
illinois- what the hell do i know?
ted leo/pharmacists- living with the living
busdriver- roadkillovercoat
harlem shakes- burning birthdays

ZEROpumpkins 04.21.2007 12:22 AM

There's no way i'm going to find most of those bands here in Australia. And I don't want to listen to any band started after 2000. But thanks anyway.
