Klausness

Here's a good game to play on long car journeys. Think of three films that would've been improved had Klaus Kinski been in the lead role.

Personally I can't think of many films that wouldn't have benefited from his presence, but anyway.

Pookie 04.21.2007 07:54 AM

Mary Poppins.

sarramkrop 04.21.2007 07:58 AM

All Or Nothing.

Pookie 04.21.2007 08:00 AM

Any Bond film.

demonrail666 04.21.2007 08:05 AM

Imagine how much better these three films would be with Klaus at centre stage.

1. Klaus replacing Bruce Willis in Die Hard.
2. Klaus replacing Ewen McGregor in Phantom Menace.
3. Klaus playing Jesus in The Passion.

Klaus would've made an amazing Bond.

I had Die Hard in my mind as well.

demonrail666 04.21.2007 08:12 AM

Replacing Michael Douglas in Wall Street.

Klaus Kinski in Jesus Christus Erlöser

It's in german, but you'll feel the virility

Absolutely priceless stuff. I have a subtitled version on video. Incredible.

Klaus was the Iggy of film. Only better.

demonrail666 04.21.2007 09:01 AM

This is why we love Klaus so much:

Excellent thread, Mr Demon. Here's my three:

1. Klaus playing Adolf Hitler in "Der Untergang" - Klaus would've had the perfect mixture of pathos, charisma and fury.
2. Klaus in the Werner Herzog role in "Julian Donkey Boy" - seeing him play a dysfunctional, near-psychopathic parent would've suited Klaus perfectly.
3. Klaus in the eponymous role of "Taxi Driver" - Klaus wouldn't need any Method acting to get into this character.

True, but even better as Harvey Keitel's Sport. Trying to appear hip and laid back would've just done poor old Klaus in.

I think Herzog was about perfect in this role.

MellySingsDoom 04.21.2007 09:38 AM

More Klaus (In German) - here, Klaus takes on an irritating audience member and makes him look like the buffoon he is:

I would most certainly agree, but could you imagine Kinski in this role?

demonrail666 04.21.2007 09:42 AM

No idea what he's saying, but it sounds typically Klauslike.

demonrail666 04.21.2007 09:46 AM

I think i've hit gold with this one:

Klaus replaces Robert DeNiro in Raging Bull. If only for the burnt steak scene!

MellySingsDoom 04.21.2007 09:48 AM

demonrail666 - There's lots of little insults, such as "Y'know, 99% of people are cool, and are perfectly fine. Then there's this guy...". At the end, Klaus says, "I didn't know this was a panel show where EVERYONE gets to talk", topped off with, "Maybe you should invite him on next week!"

Here's the same clip, subtitled. Amazingly insane!

demonrail666 04.21.2007 10:08 AM

And then, of course, Klaus replaces Jack in The Shining!

luxinterior 04.21.2007 10:31 AM

I would like to see Klaus replace Michael Jordan in Space Jam.

Well it's a DAMN GOOD THING HE WASN'T. I would've stormed out of this thread by now I suspect.

noumenal 04.21.2007 11:11 AM

He would have been good as Beethoven in Immortal Beloved.

demonrail666 04.21.2007 11:46 AM

The dad in American Pie

luxinterior 04.21.2007 11:54 AM

It's on Comedy Central right now. Another one of those movies that I've seen more times than is probably necessary.

Hip Priest 04.22.2007 11:26 AM

If Klaus Kinski is reading this thread, he'll probably be distressed to discover that there are three films that he hasn't managed to appear in. Anyway, here's three already very good films that he would have suited:

Rosenkrantz and Guildernstern Are Dead - as the theatre troupe leader. perhaps?
Jesus Of Montreal - as one of the actors.
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

Iain 04.22.2007 11:35 AM

Can you even access the internet from beyond the grave?

Hip Priest 04.22.2007 11:40 AM

I don't see why not. I certainly hope so, as more online time is high on my list of afterlife activity plans.

thanks for that.

Iain 04.22.2007 11:56 AM

Hehe. Yes indeed.

I hope you don't think I was actually being an arse. I just avoided using a smiley because I find them hateful.
