SHAMELESS PLUG! My Debut SF Novel is available on AMAZON
Hello everyone.
I hope that some of my sonic brethren see this. Over the past year and a half I wrote a novel. It is now available on Amazon, in Kindle, Paperback, and Hardcover versions. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with Sonic Youth except for the fact that Sonic Youth is in me inexorably. IN CRED
A mystical experience or a death-time delusion. A journey to the farthest reaches of the cosmos, or a trip into the inner recesses of the mind. Cred's day is not going well. Collapsing at the record store and finding himself face to face with the god he accidentally created unhinged him somewhat. This new problem, however, completely terrifies him. With the help of some friends, a desperate ploy to save our universe is put in motion. If only Cred can figure out how. ♦ NOW AVAILABLE! IN CRED The debut novel by RXTT. IN CRED - Kindle Edition IN CRED - Paperback IN Cred - Hardcover Sonic Life to all! |
I misspoke.
SONIC YOUTH is most definitely in my debut novel, IN CRED. "Speaking of infinities, there are certain vinyl records that never end. They contain locked grooves which keep the needle from lifting, endlessly repeating a small section of music or sound. The Beatles did this with some of their releases. Sonic Youth did so as well, with locked grooves keeping the skronk rotating indefinitely. There are other types of infinity, such as holographic or fractal infinities. There are certain albums with concurrent grooves. All vinyl records contain one long circular groove that details in three dimensions the audio sound wave recorded and cut into the record. Some albums have two concurrent grooves, which means that you never know into which groove the needle will drop. Again, Sonic Youth did this very same thing with a ten-inch vinyl release of their song “100%.” Each side contains two songs, but you can never tell which will play. It is a pain in the ass when all you want is to bliss out to Lee Ranaldo’s masterpiece, “Genetic.” These thoughts came to Cred. It is hard to say whether he comprehended it all instantly, or if he spent a long period of time ruminating. Time seems not to exist here in Mario’s presence. Cred felt no sense of urgency, and so it seemed, neither did Mario, who floated in front of him, eyes closed, gently snoring, with cartoon “Z’s” bubbling out of his mouth every time he exhaled." hahahahah!!!! |
I'll pick up a copy in due course.
So there's Jenn and now you, have any other SYGers put out a book? |
Jenn has No Setlist, and 4 novels, so far no agents or publishers have picked up her novels, but she has multiple published short stories and poetry out there

He does not post on here anymore, but Glice also put a book out recently. |
Bad ass
I have two of Jenns. Mine is a sci fi novel, self-published on amazon. |

A UK-based publisher (that has released works by American authors, albeit sparingly) just asked to review a manuscript, so the tides may turn soon. Rob, I’m incredibly happy to see IN CRED out in the world. Expect an order soon. |

What is the name of his book? |
Quote:
It's called 'Taylor Swift for Adults - Taking Swift Seriously', published by White Owl. |
I'm going to have to google that to see if you're winding me up or not. I mean it's exactly the sort of book he would write...
|
I remember him banging on about Girls Aloud's apparent genius all the time way back when, so I wouldn't be surprised to learn he's a Swifty

That does appear to be true about Glice, how about that. Congratulations, Rob. Nice work.

Well done to him then, please pass on my congrats and admiration. |
this thread reminds me that the core of this forum has actually been populated by quite talented people

I've lost any contact details for Glice, so if you're in contact with him, could you pass on my congratulations? I've just ordered it but read a sample section on Amazon, and it looks great. Also, well done Rob! |
So Glice's book is about Swift's lyrics in particular? I wasn't aware she was a word wielding troubadour (but then again I was never aware that Cheryl 'do you know who I am? - geordie racist slapper man!' Tweedy was a musical genius either, so what the fuck do I nah eh). I've only heard that Romeo & Juliet song which resulted in violent psychogenic nonepileptic seizures, maybe I should have listened to one from her moody & depressed album or something (probably a black n' white photo of her strumming an acoustic with a dead chihuahua or summit) though I would sooner join the Taliban than listen to another song. Speaking of which, Isn't Taylor Swift the music of choice used in the terrorist training camps of Afghanistan to help motivate and fan the flames of western hate? Oh Taylor, so much to answer for, all those innocent lives, but more importantly, my foken sanity.

This is a true fact. |
Hey nice to see you on here Demonrail666. Will definitely pass on yours and Toilet & Bowels' congratulations. I thought perhaps you guys were all still in touch.

I've passed on your congratulations to Glice. He has, apparently, an outdated email address for you and has a free copy of the book for you. Apparently you got him into Taylor Swift in the first place. Could you please message me your email address and I'll pass it on? He says thank you to all of you. |
I got an email from amazon a couple of days ago suggesting I might be interested in purchasing IN CRED.
|
I just googled this old username trying to find something and saw this thread and it's like being back in 2006. this board went so weird for a while but it's nice to see all you same sweet people who gave me a lot of good advice when I was younger <3 I'll check out your book Rob, congratulations!

rooooob! congrats my man. i am unable to read much long form at this juncture, as dealing with big challenges right now. but i did read your free sample on amazon and it reminded me of A VOYAGE TO ARCTURUS, which was one of harold bloom's favorite novels, and i think i remember you've read it too. cred is of course very much your own thing, but i was happy to spot the good influences in it, yes.
keep up the good work and please wish me some free time so that i can enjoy your book soon, mario willing! eta Quote:
